Position Summary
Responsible for splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables to ensure reliable communication networks. Performs installation and maintenance of fiber optic systems according to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Splice fiber optic cables using fusion or mechanical splicing techniques
- Terminate fiber optic cables with connectors and patch panels
- Test fiber optic connections using OTDR and other testing equipment
- Install fiber optic cables in ducts, trays, and aerial routes
- Read and interpret cable layout drawings and specifications
- Identify and repair fiber optic faults and defects
- Maintain accurate records of splicing activities and test results
- Ensure proper handling and storage of fiber optic materials
- Coordinate with site teams and supervisors for installation schedules
- Comply with HSE policies and safety procedures
Requirements
- Technical training or certification in fiber optic splicing
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience as fiber optic splicer
- Proficiency in fusion and mechanical splicing techniques
- Knowledge of OTDR testing and fiber optic measurement
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Experience in telecommunications or infrastructure projects preferred
