Job Title: Paraprofessional – Teenage Parent Program (TAPP)
JOB SUMMARY
The TAPP Paraprofessional provides essential instructional, behavioral, and administrative
support to students and their children within the Teenage Parent Program (TAPP). This role
involves assisting teachers in creating an excelling learning environment that guides both the
teenage parent and their preschool-age children toward meeting their educational and
developmental potential.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
The paraprofessional supports classroom instruction, supervises students during activities
(classroom, field trips, playground), and provides administrative assistance. You will work
collaboratively to embrace a culture of innovation, empathy, and a growth mindset.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Instructional Support: Assist in the implementation of lesson plans and Individual
Education Plans (IEPs). Support students with disabilities in general education or
specialized settings and monitor progress under the direction of program specialists.
● Student Development: Provide support for individual students inside and outside the
classroom to enable full participation. Assist in the educational and social development
of both the teen parents and their children.
● Behavioral & Social Support: Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns,
modeling professional courtesy and helping them develop appropriate social skills and
positive parenting techniques.
● Classroom Management: Oversee independent/guided practices and follow prescribed
activities to reinforce concepts. Maintain a safe, healthy, and organized classroom
environment.
● Administrative Tasks: Assist with the preparation of student work, copying materials,
and using classroom technology (computers, projectors, etc.) to support instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
● NCLB Requirement: Must meet one of the following: 60 post-secondary college hours,
an AA degree, or a passing score on the Arizona Department of Education ParaPro
Assessment.
● Certifications: Valid First Aid/CPR Certification (American Heart Association/Heart
Saver;
● Fingerprint Clearance: Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required (or obtained
within 60 days of hire).
● Experience: Prior experience with restorative practices or working with children or
at-risk youth preferred.
