Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Advance Practice Provider

Provide direct medical care to patients within the correctional facility.

Conduct medical assessments, physical examinations, and review patient histories.

Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.

Perform procedures such as laceration repair and incision and drainage (I&D).
-
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient medical conditions.

Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to treatment.
-
Respond to medical emergencies and initiate lifesaving interventions.
-
Manage chronic disease conditions and coordinate ongoing care.
-
Collaborate with mental health professionals regarding patient treatment needs.
-
Promote preventative care and health education for patients.

Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with policies.
-
Collaborate with correctional facility leadership and security personnel to ensure medical operations are implemented in a manner consistent with facility safety protocols.

Maintain professional and ethical standards with patients and staff.

Provides a minimum of twelve (12) clinical shifts per month to support ongoing patient care operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - APP Expansion Lead

Partners with site leadership and executives to prepare for new facility launches.

Develops and maintains orientation and training materials for APPs, including assessment tools to track orientation completion and

Collaborates with HR to ensure APP onboarding, credentialing, and facility clearance are completed.

Prepares and coordinates APP schedules in advance of the facility launch.

Provides feedback to leadership regarding site readiness and staffing needs.
-
Ensures new APPs understand policies, procedures, and operational workflows.
-
Serves as clinical lead during startup phases.
-
Mentors newly hired APPs and clinical staff and monitors early performance of newly hired APPs and provides coaching, feedback, and mentorship to support successful integration into the correctional healthcare environment.

Assists leadership in implementing standardized clinical protocols.

Monitors operational performance during early stages of new sites.
-
Assists new APPs in understanding facility security procedures, movement restrictions, emergency response protocols, and chain-of-command expectations.

Promotes effective working relationships between medical staff and correctional personnel during the early stages of site operations.

Coordinates new hire orientation for APPs at existing facilities prior to the launch of new locations.
-
Participates in the recruitment and interview process for APP candidates to support staffing of new facilities.

Engages with APPs and site leadership at orientation locations to assess clinical competence and cultural fit of newly hired providers.

Monitors the orientee’s progress, comfort level, and clinical readiness during orientation and provides updates to leadership as needed.

Develops and manages the APP schedule for new facilities until a Lead APP is appointed, at which time scheduling responsibilities will transition to the designated site APP Lead.

Clinical Coverage Expectations – Expansion Lead

Minimum shift expectations may vary based on operational needs related to facility launches, onboarding activities, or other expansion initiatives.

When the APP Expansion Lead is actively supporting a site launch or expansion project, a reduction in home site shifts may occur when operationally feasible and as approved by leadership.

Following completion of expansion or launch support activities, the APP Expansion Lead is expected to transition back to a full-time clinical schedule at their designated home site, typically within approximately sixty (60) days, based on operational needs.

Requirements
Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications
Required Certifications and Licenses

Must have and maintain current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensure within the State of Georgia

Must have and maintain a current DEA registration
-
Must have or attain a BLS Certification prior to the first day of employment
Preferred Qualifications
-
Two (2) or more years of clinical experience, preferably in emergency medicine, urgent care, or correctional healthcare.

Board Certification in a relevant specialty
- Previous experience performing as a team lead and/or supervising staff
Special Requirements: This position will be subject to a background check. The APP Expansion lead role will require travel to new facility locations.
Physical Requirements: The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds with prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting at a desk, viewing a computer and reading a variety of materials. Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hands. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing for extended periods of time.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a correctional healthcare environment with exposure to noise, communicable diseases, controlled access areas, and unpredictable conditions. Employees must comply with all safety, security, infection control and emergency response protocols.
