Marsh is seeking candidates to join our Quality Assurance Team based in the Mumbai office. This is a hybrid role that requires working in the office at least three days a week.
Director – Quality Assurance (Grade G)
What can you expect?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced First Lines of Controls Manager to:
- Oversee first line of defence controls across Marsh IMEA.
- Provide proportionate management information to the Marsh IMEA SteerCo to assist the SteerCo in managing performance against risk appetite and strategic objectives.
- Propose and undertake deep dives into focused areas of risk, reporting to the Marsh SteerCo and IMEA Risk Committee
The incumbent in the role will be reporting to the Marsh IMEA COO and matrix to Head of Global Internal Controls acting as a conduit between the BCS, Business and Second Line.
We will count on you to:
- Drive and optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of our first line controls across IMEA to manage risk and support our financial performance.
- Partner with the business to build sustainable and repeatable capabilities raising the standard and execution of our services to clients.
- Analyse and review data, tools, business processes and operational standards with a view to managing risk.
- Evaluate business processes and assess their suitability for business needs.
- Research and monitor the external landscape to identify developments and manage our first line controls.
- Represent the IMEA region on internal global forums, including management reporting and issues escalation.
Risk Management and Controls
- Managing oversight of risk in the First Line and promoting a culture of risk awareness
- Taking the lead for the region on Group wide initiatives such as Operational Resilience, whilst providing opportunity for Marsh IMEA President sponsored deep dives into focused areas of risk, thereby providing senior management with enhanced oversight
- Acting as risk advisor (with input from the relevant matrix/functional manager(s) where appropriate) ensuring first line risks are identified, quantified and mitigated in accordance with centrally defined risk management methodologies and protocols
- Reviewing and maintaining controls, monitoring their effectiveness and enhancing where necessary
Regulatory
- To work in conjunction with the Second Line on ensuring regulatory and company/group requirements are met and that there is suitable evidence to support this
- To work alongside the Second Line on regulatory consultations to ensure that the implications of any changes and any issues around implementation are understood by the First Line
- To participate in all major regulatory projects that have a business impact
- To ensure all changes to policies, procedures, projects and regulations are fully embedded within the business and, where appropriate, that testing is undertaken
- To provide senior leadership with updates on the regulatory environment, and any actions required
Proposition Governance
- To be responsible for oversight of proposition governance across all Marsh business segments and escalating issues for senior leadership attention as appropriate
- What you need to have:
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience of leading strategic governance within a dynamic, matrixed organisation, collaborating successfully with other functions to deliver on the organisation’s strategic objectives
- Ability to translate technical knowledge into operational practice to ensure a seamless governance structure is in place and act as the subject matter expert when required
- Knowledge of Insurance broking/intermediary processes would be a distinct advantage
- Experience in developing / executing vision and associated strategic objectives
- Ability to build and manage strong relationships with internal stakeholders throughout all levels of the organization
- Effective communication and influencing skills
- An understanding operational excellence
- Strong analytical skills
