Job Description – Fire Fighting Design Engineer

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Fighting Design Engineer to design, plan, estimate, and coordinate fire protection systems for commercial, industrial, residential, and infrastructure projects. The candidate should have strong knowledge of fire fighting systems, relevant standards, and preparation of design drawings and BOQs.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Prepare detailed fire fighting system designs and layouts.
Design systems such as:
Hydrant System
Sprinkler System
Fire Alarm System
Gas Suppression System
Foam System
Fire Extinguisher Layout
Perform hydraulic calculations for fire fighting systems.
Prepare schematic drawings, single line diagrams, and shop drawings.
Prepare coordination drawings with HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Architecture teams.
Review tender drawings and specifications.
Estimation & BOQ
Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and material take-off.
Prepare cost estimation for fire fighting projects.
Vendor and material specification comparison.
Support procurement team for technical approvals.
Documentation
Prepare technical submittals and material submittals.
Maintain project design records and revisions.
Ensure drawings comply with client requirements and standards.
Site Coordination
Coordinate with project execution teams during installation.
Attend client meetings and technical discussions.
Provide technical support during commissioning and testing.
Standards & Compliance
Ensure compliance with:
NBC
NFPA
TAC
Local Fire Authority Norms
Ensure all designs meet safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of fire fighting systems and design concepts.
Knowledge of AutoCAD mandatory.
Knowledge of hydraulic calculation software preferred.
Understanding of NFPA, NBC, and TAC standards.
BOQ preparation and estimation skills.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Software Knowledge
AutoCAD
MS Office
Hydraulic Calculation Software (Preferred)
Revit / BIM (Preferred)
Educational Qualification
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Engineering.
Experience
2 to 6 Years in Fire Fighting Design & Estimation.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Experience in commercial, industrial, or high-rise projects.
Knowledge of authority approval processes preferred.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Salary
As per industry standards and candidate experience.
