Overview
This position supports student achievement and growth by working collaboratively with teachers, intervention specialists, and administrators in a grades 11–12 career technical setting. This role focuses on job-embedded professional learning, instructional excellence, and the oversight of special education compliance. By providing instructional support for all CTE teachers and students - as well as coordinating services to meet the needs of students with unique learning needs - this individual ensures positive learning outcomes for all in a career center technical learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Instructional Support & Coaching
- Collaborative Coaching: Partner with CTE teachers to plan, model, and teach research-based instructional strategies that enhance content delivery and student engagement for all students.
- Data-Informed Decision Making: Analyze student performance and data to modify instruction, track progress, and ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are provided in all learning environments
- Teaching Strategy: Assist teachers in implementing strategies that promote critical thinking, student motivation, and career readiness for a diverse student body.
- Professional Development: Facilitate high-impact professional learning, including department meetings, focused on differentiated instruction, pedagogy, and the integration of innovative teaching strategies in a technical lab setting.
Special Education Oversight & Compliance
- Program Leadership: Oversee the implementation of special education services in compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies.
- IEP Management: Provide guidance to intervention specialists in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with CTE programming.
Collaboration & Advocacy
- Inclusion Advocacy: Foster a culture of belonging by collaborating with staff, families, and compact districts to ensure inclusive practices and alignment with CTE initiatives.
- Communication: Facilitate clear, professional communication between staff, families, and compact districts regarding student services and eligibility determinations.
- Resource Coordination: Utilize and train staff on assistive technology to support learning and ensure access to the curriculum for all students.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education & Licensure: Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred);
- Experience: 5+ years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level; Documented examples of instructional coaching as well as specific experiences working with students with disabilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of IDEA, state regulations, and special education compliance requirements as well as curriculum and instruction.
- Skills: Demonstrated effectiveness in improving student achievement; proficiency in data analysis; and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or Special Education.
- Possession of a valid Ohio Administrative License
- Intervention Specialist Licensure
- 3+ years of supervisory/administrative experience preferred
- OTES certification
- Experience as an instructional coach, department chair, or special education administrator.
- Knowledge of MTSS and career-technical education standards.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Environment: Professional school-based setting including classrooms, technical labs, and offices.
- Physicality: Ability to move quickly throughout the building; ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
- Resilience: Ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations involving students with behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Schedule: Standard school-day schedule with occasional extended hours for meetings or professional development; may require travel between the Millstream Career Center CTPD.
