About The Data Duck
We're a 23-year-old strategy, design, and AI consultancy based in Mumbai. We run three practices under one roof, Strategy, Design, and Technology, led by Ritu, Aisha, and Muhammad. We've helped brands find clarity and grow: Calm, Aesop, Moda Operandi, Coca-Cola, and a handful of founders we're proud to work with.
We work hard, take craft seriously, and have built a culture where AI is a daily tool rather than a buzzword. Strategy sessions are direct. Feedback is honest. Nobody's protecting turf.
We're Your CAC & CLV Buddies. It's the line on our letterhead, and it's the work we actually do.
The client
One of our clients is one of India's leading wealth and asset management firms, running mutual funds, structured investment funds, PMS, and alternative investment strategies for retail investors through to family offices. We run their social content strategy across their verticals.
This role is dedicated to their Retail Investments (mutual funds, SIF) and Alternatives (PMS, AIF) verticals.
The role
- The audience ranges from a first-time SIP investor to a sophisticated family office looking at Cat II alternatives. Your job is to write for both — and to know the difference. Not just in register, but in what each audience needs to hear, when, and why.
- This is not a content farm role. You will not be producing 40 posts a week. You will be producing the kind of content that makes someone stop scrolling, save the post, and send it to their RM. That requires thinking as much as writing.
What you'll do
- Day to day: – Write social copy across Instagram and LinkedIn: carousels, captions, reels scripts, LinkedIn posts, story sequences – Translate complex financial products (MF schemes, PMS strategies, AIF structures) into copy that is accurate, readable, and genuinely interesting – Work closely with the art lead so copy and design are doing the same job, not two different ones – Maintain SEBI compliance across all content — disclaimers, claim framing, category language — with guidance from the strategy lead – Contribute to content calendars and campaign briefs at the ideas stage, not just the execution stage
- On campaigns: – Write across IP formats: recurring series, myth-busting content, investor education campaigns – Adapt a single campaign idea across multiple formats and platforms without losing the central thought – Write content that is practical, persuasive, human
What we're looking for
- Must have: – 2–4 years of copywriting experience, with at least one year on a financial services, fintech, or investment brand – Demonstrable ability to write about financial products without making them sound like a factsheet or a disclaimer – Comfort operating in the gap between retail and HNI audiences – A working understanding of SEBI advertising guidelines for mutual funds – Strong instincts for what makes content shareable — saves, forwards, screenshots — not just what makes it technically correct
- Nice to have: – Experience writing for an asset management brand specifically – Familiarity with Indian investor psychology — the FD mindset, SIP hesitancy, and how to write against it without being condescending – Some exposure to long-form financial content: articles, thought leadership, fund commentaries
- Not negotiable: – You write like a human being. If your portfolio reads like it was produced by a committee or cleaned up by AI, this isn't the right role. – You take a brief and push it. We don't need someone who executes instructions. We need someone who makes the brief better. – You can work fast when needed and slow when the work demands it. You know which is which.
What this role is not
This isn't a role for someone who wants to write broadly across categories and build a generalist portfolio. You'll be deep in one world — asset management, mutual funds, alternative investments — for the foreseeable future.
It's also not a role where the strategy is handed to you fully formed and you fill in the words. You'll be expected to have opinions about what should be said, not just how to say it.
Why join
We're a small team. The work you do here will be seen, by the client, by the industry, and on your portfolio. If you want to do the best financial services copy in India, this is where you do it.
How to apply
Apply via LinkedIn, OR send your portfolio + a short note (not a cover letter) to hr@thedataduck.com with the subject line: Copywriter, Wealth Management.
The note should answer one question: what is a piece of financial content you've seen recently that actually worked, and why did it work?
Applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed.
