Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and driven Team Lead – Financial Reporting & RTR to own and lead the Record to Report function for Datawrkz's India and UK entities. This is a people-leadership role with full accountability for accrual accounting, ledger closing, financial reporting, and team delivery.
The Team Lead will be responsible for preparing and reviewing standalone and consolidated financial statements at quarter-end under Ind AS and IFRS, driving budgeting and forecasting cycles, and building a high-performing RTR team. This role requires both strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to mentor, manage workload, and ensure quality across the team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & People Management• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 2–4 RTR analysts, setting clear goals and performance expectations
• Allocate work across the team to ensure timely and accurate close activities
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and skill development conversations
• Identify training needs and drive upskilling initiatives within the team
• Be the escalation point for complex accounting issues and technical queries
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
2. Record to Report & Month/Quarter Close• Own the end-to-end RTR process — from accrual identification and posting to period-end close and reporting
• Review and approve all journal entries, including complex manual adjustments prepared by team members
• Ensure timely ledger closing in accordance with close calendars across all entities
• Oversee and review balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy
• Manage accrual accounting lifecycle: identification, estimation, posting, and reversal
3. Financial Reporting – Standalone & Consolidated (Ind AS and IFRS)• Review and sign off on standalone financial statements prepared under Ind AS and IFRS
• Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, including:
– Intercompany balance eliminations and reconciliations
– Group consolidation adjustments and reclassifications
– Accounting for Non-Controlling Interest (NCI)
– Consolidation journals and group-level entries
• Ensure accurate application of Ind AS and IFRS requirements across the team — revenue recognition, accruals, provisions, leases, fixed assets, and depreciation
• Support quarter-end and year-end statutory reporting and audit requirements
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Variance Analysis• Own and coordinate the annual budgeting process and rolling forecast cycles
• Review and challenge variance analysis prepared by the team (Actual vs Budget / Forecast
/ Prior Period)
• Present clear financial insights and narratives to senior management
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand and explain cost drivers and revenue movements
5. Controls, Compliance & Process Excellence• Ensure compliance with Ind AS and IFRS, internal accounting policies, and control frameworks across all team deliverables
• Lead audit support — coordinate requests, prepare audit schedules, and manage auditor interactions
• Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives within the RTR function
• Maintain and update documentation for accounting policies, key judgments, and estimates
• Define and enforce SOPs for the team's core processes
What We're Looking For
Technical Skills• Strong understanding of Ind AS and IFRS and practical application in standalone and consolidated reporting
• Deep knowledge of accrual accounting, GL close processes, and RTR lifecycle
• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements, including intercompany eliminations and NCI
• Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation models
Leadership & Soft Skills• Proven experience managing or mentoring a team of 2+ in a finance function
• Excellent communication skills — ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Strong ownership mindset with ability to prioritize and meet tight close deadlines
• Detail-oriented with a drive for accuracy and continuous improvement
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Business, and External Audit teams
Qualifications• CA / ICWA / CPA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in RTR / Financial Reporting, with at least 1–2 years in a team lead or senior individual contributor role
• Prior experience with Ind AS and IFRS is a significant advantage
• Experience working in a shared services or multi-entity group reporting environment is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
• Performance-driven compensation with upside linked to revenue and gross margin
• Medical Insurance: Coverage of ₹3,00,000 for individual, spouse, and children — with options to include parents and upgrade to ₹5,00,000 coverage
• Professional development support — reimbursement for relevant certifications and courses
• Flexible, outcome-oriented work culture backed by a global leadership team
• Onsite perks: meals, recreation, and an open, collaborative environment
