SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are seeking an FP&A professional to support financial planning and performance management of the R&D organization. The role will focus on R&D cost tracking, project and CAPEX monitoring, forecasting, variance analysis, and business partnering with R&D stakeholders to ensure financial discipline and transparency across the innovation portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
R&D Cost Management
- Track and analyze R&D expenses across projects, programs, and departments.
- Monitor monthly spending against budget and forecast, providing insights on key variances and cost drivers.
- Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process for R&D functions.
- Ensure accurate allocation and reporting of R&D costs.
CAPEX Planning & Tracking
- Monitor CAPEX investments and project spending against approved budgets.
- Track capitalization of project costs and support compliance with accounting policies.
- Provide visibility into CAPEX commitments, project timelines, and forecasted spend.
- Support business cases and investment evaluations for new R&D initiatives.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Perform monthly variance analysis (Actuals vs Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year).
- Prepare management reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership.
- Analyze project economics, resource utilization, and investment performance.
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and strategic decision-making.
Business Partnering
- Partner with R&D leaders, project managers, and functional stakeholders to improve financial visibility and accountability.
- Challenge assumptions and identify risks and opportunities within project portfolios.
- Drive process improvements and enhance reporting efficiency through automation and analytics.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in FP&A, Controlling, Project Finance, or R&D Finance.
- Experience supporting project-based organizations, R&D functions, or CAPEX-intensive environments is preferred.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, Pivot Tables, Power Query, and data analysis).
- Experience with SAP and financial reporting systems; SAP experience is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of Power BI or similar reporting tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
