Financial Controller
Wellness CRDMO (Supplements, Nutraceuticals & Pharmaceuticals)
Leumas · Bengaluru
We’re hiring a financial leader to build and operate the financial backbone of a next-generation wellness and pharmaceutical manufacturing platform.
This is a critical role responsible for ensuring financial discipline, regulatory-compliant accounting, investor-grade reporting, and cost visibility across development, pilots, and commercial production. The role also covers due diligence execution for VC fundraises and client onboarding, and financial feasibility assessment for all major investment decisions.
We’re looking for a high-ownership financial operator who understands the economics of regulated manufacturing and wants to build systems that scale with speed, compliance, and strategic clarity.
Company Overview - Leumas
Leumas is a venture-funded, Bangalore-based CRDMO building a next-generation manufacturing platform for wellness and pharmaceutical products.
We combine modular production, software-defined manufacturing, and integrated quality systems to enable faster launches, flexible scale, and reliable execution.
Industry Context
The financial operating model for wellness and pharmaceutical manufacturing is evolving rapidly.
Winning CRDMOs run faster development cycles, serve diverse client programs, and demand tighter control over cost, compliance, and capital efficiency.
Traditional finance functions were designed for static, high-volume production environments — not rapid iteration, multi-client program accounting, or pilot-to-commercial financial transitions.
At the same time, investor and client scrutiny is intensifying. Manufacturing finance must be able to withstand VC due diligence, client financial audits, and regulatory reviews — while delivering clear, timely management intelligence.
Leumas is built for this model: a platform-led CRDMO where finance, production, and quality systems operate as a unified system.
The Role
You will build and operate Leumas’ financial engine end-to-end,
financial controls & accounting → costing & margin management → MIS & reporting → statutory compliance → due diligence & audits → investment feasibility.
This is a high-ownership role responsible for ensuring financial discipline across nutraceutical, Pharma API, and pharmaceutical programs.
Beyond routine accounting, you will define how a modern manufacturing platform manages cost visibility, program economics, and financial scalability — and how it presents itself credibly to investors and clients.
You will operate as the connective tissue between Operations, QA, NPD, and Leadership — ensuring financial clarity never becomes a bottleneck to decision-making, fundraising, or execution.
What You’ll Own
1. Financial Controls & Accounting
→ Own end-to-end accounting — accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
→ Ensure books are accurate, up-to-date, and audit-ready at all times.
→ Establish and enforce internal financial controls aligned with regulatory and investor requirements.
→ Oversee payroll, vendor payments, and client invoicing with precision and discipline.
2. Costing, Margin Management & Program Economics
→ Build and maintain product-level and program-level cost structures across formulations, manufacturing runs, and packaging.
→ Enable visibility into gross margins by client, product category, and manufacturing line.
→ Support pricing decisions, quotation economics, and contract profitability reviews.
→ Track cost variances and material utilization to drive manufacturing efficiency.
3. MIS, Reporting & Financial Planning
→ Prepare monthly MIS reports for leadership with clear visibility into P&L, cash flow, and operational performance.
→ Build and maintain financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.
→ Support fundraising processes with financial data rooms, investor reporting, and due diligence preparation.
→ Ensure management accounts are delivered on time and in investor-grade format.
4. Due Diligence & Audits
→ Own end-to-end execution of VC due diligence processes — data room preparation, financial Q&A, and audit coordination.
→ Ensure financial records, cap table, and historical accounts are always diligence-ready.
→ Lead client-side financial audits and evaluations during onboarding or contract reviews.
→ Coordinate with statutory auditors, legal counsel, and investor representatives to close processes on time.
→ Maintain a live audit trail across financial records to minimise lead time on any review.
5. Investment Feasibility & Business Case Development
→ Evaluate the financial feasibility of new client programs, manufacturing line additions, factory expansions, and capital investments.
→ Build structured business cases with ROI projections, payback periods, and risk-adjusted scenarios.
→ Support leadership in go/no-go decisions on new verticals, geographies, or large-scale production commitments.
→ Model unit economics for MAAS and FAAS engagements to ensure sustainable program margins.
→ Flag financial risks early and provide clear recommendations to enable faster, better-informed decisions.
6. Statutory Compliance & Taxation
→ Ensure timely and accurate compliance across GST, TDS, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations.
→ Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
→ Maintain compliance registers and ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready.
→ Support export-related financial compliance as the company expands globally.
7. Financial Systems & Process Discipline
→ Maintain accurate financial records in Leumasware and internal ERP/accounting systems.
→ Establish disciplined processes for purchase order management, expense approvals, and financial documentation.
→ Build financial systems and workflows that scale with manufacturing and business growth.
→ Drive adoption of financial discipline across operations, procurement, and production teams.
You’re a Fit If
You bring 6–10+ years of experience in financial control, management accounting, or finance operations, preferably in manufacturing, pharma, FMCG, or regulated industry environments.
You’ve managed end-to-end accounting, cost systems, and statutory compliance in production environments where accuracy and traceability matter.
You have hands-on experience running VC due diligence processes or financial audits — you know what investors and clients look for, and how to get documentation ready fast.
You are comfortable building investment feasibility models and business cases from scratch, and translating financial outputs into clear go/no-go recommendations.
You understand how manufacturing profitability depends on costing discipline, margin visibility, and financial controls.
You are operationally rigorous and detail-oriented, ensuring financial execution supports business decisions without ambiguity.
Bonus (preferred): CA / CMA qualification; experience supporting VC-backed companies through fundraising rounds, investor reporting, or global expansion.
How You Will Operate
You’re a builder who creates structured, reliable financial systems.
You ensure financial readiness ahead of business requirements — preventing reporting gaps, diligence delays, or compliance failures.
You operate with precision and discipline, ensuring accuracy and compliance are never compromised.
You think like an investor and an operator — equally comfortable in a data room and on the factory floor.
You collaborate closely with Operations, QA, and NPD to ensure financial systems support execution.
You continuously improve systems to support scale.
Why Join
This is a critical role in building the financial backbone of a platform-led CRDMO.
You will have direct ownership over financial reliability, compliance, and scalability.
You will be at the table for fundraising, expansion decisions, and major capital investments — not just reporting on them.
You will help build systems that enable faster decisions, reliable reporting, and scalable growth.
You will be joining early enough to shape how finance operates as Leumas scales globally.
