Position: Financial Controller

The Role:
As Financial Controller, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for the overall financial health, compliance, and integrity of the Trust. This is a role for someone who brings not just technical expertise, but a genuine alignment with NMT's values and mission.
What You Will Do:
- Financial Planning & Control
- Lead budget preparation, monitoring, and control across all projects and programmes
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide timely variance analysis
- Monitor and control all revenue channels pertaining to income and expenditure
- Conduct prior checking of major income and expenditure items before their occurrence
- Check and approve bills, vouchers, and payments before submission to Authorised
Signatories
- Scrutinize bank balances and ensure timely reconciliation
- Check and maintain accuracy of day books, cash books, and all financial ledgers
- Ensure adequacy of provisions at all times
- Manage liquidity and treasury functions, including close monitoring of cash flows and
fund flows
- Lead rate negotiations and vendor finalisation
- Oversee purchasing controls and monitor utilisation of materials and resources
- Ensure utilisation of donor funds strictly in accordance with MOU terms, CSR mandates,
and specific-purpose donor conditions
- Provide timely utilisation reports and financial information as required by donors
- Prepare financial budgets in respect of funding proposals submitted to donors
- Provide management with proactive feedback on funding risks and mitigation strategies
- Compliance & Statutory Requirements
- Ensure timely payment of all statutory dues, including HR-related statutory obligations
- Ensure timely renewal of all regulatory approvals including 12A, 80G, FCRA, and Social
Stock Exchange listings
- Coordinate with Statutory Auditors and manage data for audit reports, IT returns,
Donation returns, and all statutory filings.
- Strengthen and continuously improve financial systems, processes, and MIS frameworks
- Provide strategic financial inputs to the Board and senior management to support informed decision-making
- Ensure GST compliance, ensuring accurate filing, input tax credits reconciliation and regulatory adherence.
- Adequate knowledge of Tally Software and ERP software’s for billing and stores.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Postgraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting
- Minimum 15 years of experience in financial management and control
- Prior experience in the NGO or non-profit sector is strongly preferred
-Thorough knowledge of statutory requirements applicable to trusts and NGOs- including FCRA, 12A, 80G, and related compliances.
- Proven ability to build and strengthen financial systems in a growing organisation
- High integrity, attention to detail, and a collaborative working style
- A genuine interest in and commitment to the social sector
