Job Title: Finance Controller
Location: Mumbai
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Role Overview: The Finance Controller will be responsible for end-to-end financial controllership, accounting, compliance, treasury, and working capital management across Kalki Fashion’s domestic and international entities. The role focuses on building strong financial discipline, ensuring accurate statutory reporting, and maintaining effective control over AP, AR, and cash flow processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Controllership & Reporting Oversee complete accounting operations, including preparation and finalisation of standalone and consolidated financial statements (Ind AS). Manage month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness. Coordinate statutory and tax audits with Big 4 and other auditors, ensuring closure of audit findings. Maintain robust internal control systems and ensure accounting policies are consistently applied.
2. Accounts Payable (AP) Lead the end-to-end vendor payment process, including invoice verification, approvals, and timely disbursements. Ensure vendor reconciliations and adherence to defined credit terms. Monitor procurement-to-payment (P2P) cycle and implement cost control initiatives. Strengthen process governance to prevent delays and improve vendor satisfaction.
3. Accounts Receivable (AR) Manage customer invoicing, collections, and credit control across all business verticals (retail, e-commerce, wholesale). Monitor receivable ageing, resolve disputes, and ensure timely collection to reduce DSO. Ensure correct revenue recognition in line with Ind AS and company policy.
4. Treasury & Working Capital Management: Manage daily cash flow, liquidity, and short-term funding requirements. Optimise working capital through efficient management of receivables, payables, and inventory. Maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions for smooth operations. Oversee cash flow forecasting, fund utilisation, and treasury reporting.
5. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis Support the CFO in annual budget preparation and rolling forecasts. Monitor performance against budgets and highlight cost-saving opportunities. Provide financial insights for business decisions and operational planning.
6. Compliance, Governance & Controls Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements – Companies Act, Income Tax, GST, TDS, FEMA, and other regulatory laws. Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls (IFC) and SOPs. Drive closure of internal and statutory audit recommendations.
7. International Entities & Transactions Oversee accounting and reporting for international subsidiaries or branches. Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and consolidation. Ensure compliance with FEMA and international tax regulations.
8. ERP & Systems Lead ERP process improvements for better automation and reporting accuracy. Ensure proper accounting data integration and control across modules (finance, procurement, and inventory). Strengthen data accuracy and financial discipline through ERP governance. ---
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) mandatory
Experience: 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in finance and controllership, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
Exposure to fashion, retail, or e-commerce industries preferred.
Experience in managing Big 4 audits, multi-entity accounts, and treasury operations.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of Ind AS, taxation, compliance, and internal controls.
In-depth understanding of AP, AR, treasury, and working capital management.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems (Genesis, SAP, MS D365, or equivalent).
High attention to detail, integrity, and an ownership mindset.
