About XBE
XBE LLC is a SaaS logistics and automation platform serving horizontal construction,
materials, and heavy-civil companies. We specialize in quietly integrating, normalizing,
and moving data across complex systems — connecting planning, dispatch, production,
fleet, pricing, and financial systems into a single system of record. Our customers value
clarity, reliability, and measurable results. Everyone takes ownership, communicates
proactively, and drives outcomes—because autonomy and accountability are how we
build great software and lasting customer impact.
Role Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for XBE's corporate accounting activities — the
consolidated close process and reporting across XBE and its acquired businesses
(BCMI, Gauge, and PriceBee), developing accounting policy and internal controls,
overseeing financial systems, and maintaining audit compliance. Reporting to the VP of
Finance, this role performs general accounting functions, manages and executes the
financial close, reports timely results and business analytics, and coordinates external
audits to comply with GAAP .
The near-term priorities are the ones created by four transactions in three years. The
Financial Controller brings BCMI, Gauge, and PriceBee onto one chart of accounts and
one close calendar, tightens the close, and builds the reporting package two sponsors
and a founder CEO will run the business from.
In addition, the Financial Controller will work closely with senior leadership to ensure
appropriate and consistent financial reporting, controls, and additional value-added
activities across all of XBE's operations. The Financial Controller will be a key member
of the finance and accounting team, working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial, fast-paced
environment and interacting with business leaders across product, commercial, and
operations.
Key Responsibilities
Consolidation & Close
● Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all entities,
and shorten the cycle.
● Consolidate BCMI, Gauge, and PriceBee onto a single chart of accounts, close
calendar, and set of accounting policies.
● Own all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, and their compliance with GAAP
and applicable regulatory requirements.
● Own revenue recognition across subscription, usage-based, and services revenue
under ASC 606.
Reporting & Controls
● Produce the monthly and quarterly reporting package for the board, PSG, and
Banneker Partners, and any lender reporting.
● Prepare and present financial statements and business analytics accurately and
on time.
● Maintain internal control and safeguards over revenue, costs, budgets, and actual
expenditures, and keep a documented system of accounting policies and
procedures.
● Consolidate business operations metrics across product development,
professional services, and marketing.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
● Coordinate all audit activity and organize information for internal and external
auditors.
● Coordinate the provision of information to outside tax accountants, and confirm
that sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, and annual reports are filed accurately and
on time in all states.
Cash, AP/AR & Team Leadership
● Monitor cash and funding balances, and report on cash position and burn.
● Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, collections, and payment
timing.
● Manage and develop the accounting team, including team members in India.
● Own the commission calculation and accrual process.
Planning & Strategic Support
● Partner with finance on the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, and review
monthly performance against plan.
● Work with the VP of Finance on M&A diligence and post-merger integration,
including systems and close processes.
● Assess and drive the upgrade of the financial systems stack.
● Advise on financial analysis and decisions on capital investment, pricing, contract
terms, and significant costs.
Required Qualifications
● 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least three years
as a Controller or Assistant Controller for a software or technology business.
● Working knowledge of US GAAP is required (in addition to, not instead of, Ind AS)
— e.g. from a US-headquartered or US-listed company's India subsidiary, a Big
4/KPO US-GAAP advisory practice, or equivalent exposure.
● Multi-entity consolidation, including bringing acquired businesses onto a single
close process and chart of accounts.
● Revenue recognition under ASC 606 across subscription, usage-based, and
services revenue.
● Experience working for a private equity or growth equity backed business, with an
understanding of sponsor and holding company reporting.
● Experience preparing board and sponsor reporting packages, and lender
compliance reporting.
●Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline (master's preferred); CPA
certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with M&A, including diligence support and post-merger integration.
● Experience with ERP and financial systems migrations or implementations
(NetSuite or comparable).
● Experience working with smaller, lean teams in entrepreneurial, founder-led
environments.
● Experience with next-gen accounting software and AI tools (Rillet, Brex/Ramp,
Anrok, etc.)
● Exposure to vertical software, construction, industrial, or logistics end markets.
Key Skills
● Demonstrated ability to handle day-to-day transaction-level work as well as
financial analysis.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the credibility to work directly
with a founder CEO and two sponsors.
● Expert-level skills with Microsoft Excel.
● Sound judgment operating with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial
environment.
What Success Looks Like
● BCMI, Gauge, and PriceBee are consolidated onto one chart of accounts and one
close calendar.
● The monthly close is tighter and faster than when you started.
● The board, PSG, and Banneker Partners receive a clean, reliable reporting package
every cycle.
● Internal controls and accounting policy are documented and consistently applied
across entities.
● Audits run smoothly, with information organized and available ahead of auditor
requests.
Compensation & Benefits
● Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
● Fully remote role.
● Opportunity to build the accounting infrastructure for a company scaling through
acquisition and fresh growth investment.
Work Hours: Flexible hours with required overlap from 2 PM – 10 PM IST
