A Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, forecasting business performance, and supporting strategic decision-making through insights on revenue, costs, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial analysts typically:
- Analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports and dashboards
- Build financial models for forecasting and budgeting
- Track KPIs and business performance metrics
- Conduct variance analysis (actual vs budget/forecast)
- Support investment decisions and cost optimization
- Assist in annual budgeting and long-term planning
- Evaluate market trends, competitors, and business risks
- Work with accounting, operations, and leadership teams
Required Skills
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
- Understanding of accounting principles
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of valuation methods (DCF, comparables is a plus)
- Familiarity with ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, etc. is a plus)
- Data visualization tools (Power BI / Tableau preferred)
- Strong communication and reporting skills
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- MBA / CFA is preferred for senior roles but not always required
