Position details
The VP role within the Internal Audit function is responsible for managing audit assignments, executing independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the Bank’s governance, risk management and control processes. It reports to a Director, Sr. Audit Lead, and will involve management of AVPs within the local Finance team. This role includes, but is not limited to, management and execution of end-to-end audit process (e.g. planning, fieldwork testing, reporting, issues validation, etc.), continuous monitoring activities, and independently owning audit administration activities and project deliverables across the organisation.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with audit methodology, while also operating within industry best practices, applicable regulations, and internal and external professional practice expectations.
- Act as a leader and role model and continuously improve self and department.
- Managing a team of auditors on projects as well as line management responsibilities.
- Operate with an innovative and flexible mindset by continuously identifying ways to enhance consistency, efficiency, quality and/or value.
- Responsible for the execution and delivery of the assigned audits within the audit plan and issue management/validation on time and within EIA Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), with limited supervision and to the required methodology and Quality Assurance standards.
- Identifying opportunities for Agile auditing and Data Analytics within audit assignments.
- Project managing audit assignments, coaching other team members as well as execution of audit work on more complex areas. Identify potential risks and controls and assist in developing scope and work programs, designing robust scope and testing strategies for audit assignments.
- Lead formal discussions with business stakeholders throughout the duration of audit engagements to communicate status or concerns.
- Generate insightful, meaningful observations that effectively convey significance and impact on risk and/or risk management practices, writing and reporting findings and audit issues to Audit Management.
- Complete and review workpapers to ensure work was appropriately performed (e.g., detailed lead sheets describing the control attributes that were tested, and the results were documented in a manner to support the conclusions reached, effectiveness and sustainable controls are evident in documentation). Documentation should stand alone to enable re-performance.
- Complete work on a timely basis and deliver work products that meet objectives and standards of methodology, applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the audit universe and risk assessments of assigned Auditable Entities.
- Build relationships with local and UK audit team members and finance stakeholders, including performance of continuous monitoring activities.
- Work on a combination of locally owned audits as well as global audits with the UK team.
- Responsible for establishing regular meetings with any assigned stakeholders, building trust, and bringing a collaborative mindset and a calibrated view on risk when providing check and challenge.
- Demonstrate a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Set high standards of performance and behaviour for self and the Analysts. Display a sense of urgency to complete tasks within short turnaround times and holding others accountable for non/late delivery of required tasks or quality.
- Responsible for proactively supporting the Audit Director and Senior Audit Manager to develop/operate a high performing team through quality of performance and talent management, motivation and inspiration of more junior staff, and promoting/role modelling a positive workforce culture.
Job Requirements
- University Degree, Profession qualification is preferred but not essential
- Experience in internal audit or in a control oversight function within the FLOD or 2LOD.
- Experience in Finance Services sector, with experience working within an Investment Bank. Preferred experience working in Finance areas (Product Control, Regulatory Reporting, Financial Reporting or Treasury).
- Experience running teams and line management responsibilities.
- Strong project management skills
- Technical skills to enable candidates to understand and assess technical processes operated within the finance area of the bank. This includes understanding of topics within Product Control, Regulatory Reporting, Financial Reporting and Treasury (Capital and Liquidity Management, ICAAP and ILAAP).
- Effective communication skills, so that candidates can provide clear updates to audit management whilst also being able to interact with stakeholders when performing design and operating effectiveness assessment of controls.
- Professional skepticism, to enable candidates to challenge the processes operated by stakeholders in order to provide assurance over the effectiveness of these process, and where relevant identified required areas of improvement.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working with teams in audit and our stakeholders. The role will require successful candidates to effectively work with more senior stakeholders at VP and Director level.
Work Timings
The role will be aligned with local time. The India FTRR team will be working alongside the UK FTRR Audit team, either working on audits alongside the UK team or on audits which are the responsibility of the UK team lead.
