Overview:
Worked with a global digital services organization supporting large US-based asset managers, specializing in credit strategies and private funds. Collaborated with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial reporting and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The person will be responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting functions for the Credit Strategy and will include:
- Overall Ownership of certain funds within the Credit Strategy: Lead and manage financial reporting, assist in year-end audits, and quarterly reporting for certain private funds.
- Collaborate with the Investor Product Team to prepare quarterly investor letters, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
- Team Management: Assist in the oversight of the internal operations and finance team, as well as manage relationships with third-party administrators.
- Fund Review and Compliance: Conduct thorough reviews of funds across various jurisdictions, working closely with Legal, Tax and Compliance teams to understand complex investment structures and implications for fund reporting
- Capital and Fees Oversight: Review capital allocation, incentive fees, and fund NAV, ensuring that the NAV package is accurate and complete.
- Expense Management: Supervise and approve fund expenses and invoices, maintaining financial integrity and accountability.
- Leadership and Development: Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and changes in financial regulations to anticipate and address potential impacts on fund operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with auditors, administrators, and custodians to ensure that all fund-related aspects are handled correctly and professionally.
DESIRED BACKGROUND/EDUCATION
- 6-10 years’ experience at an Investment Advisor and/or public accounting role in a rigorous environment
- Experience in asset management with direct lending and Mezz loan strategies and or private equity and exposure to various jurisdictions is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines
- Self-starter with initiative and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to interact with outside parties and personnel across all levels of the firm
- Ability to decipher complex legal documents
- Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through skills
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and communication skills are required.
- Top academic (i.e., BS or BA from a well-regarded institution) as well as professional credentials including an MBA, CFA, or CPA are preferred.
- Familiarity with SEC regulatory requirements and registered funds is a plus
