Job Description: A Finance Manager for a fabrication plant is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, cost accounting, and inventory management at the manufacturing facility. This role combines high-level financial analysis with operational business partnering to drive cost-saving initiatives, optimize working capital, and ensure compliance with statutory and internal controls. The position requires a "hands-on" approach to manufacturing costing, BOM (Bill of Materials) analysis, and ERP system usage (e.g., SAP).
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing Finance & Costing: Lead product costing, BOM analysis, material variance analysis, and overhead allocation.
- Inventory & Capex Management: Monitor inventory valuation, stock reconciliation, WIP (Work-in-Progress), and capital expenditure (CAPEX) tracking.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop annual factory budgets and monthly financial forecasts in coordination with the plant head and operations teams.
- Financial Reporting & MIS: Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including MIS reports and variance analysis.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to tax regulations (GST, TDS, Corporate Tax), internal controls, and statutory compliance, managing internal and external audits.
- Business Partnering: Collaborate with production, supply chain, and procurement teams to improve efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Team Leadership: Guide, mentor, and manage the plant accounting team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce (CA, CMA, or MBA Finance preferred).
- Experience: 5-10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with significant experience in manufacturing, factory operations, or plant finance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced MS Excel.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of inventory valuation (IAS 2/IndAS) and standard costing models.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical ability, leadership skills, and the capacity to explain financial data to non-finance personnel.
Typical Reporting Line
- Directly to the Plant Head, Factory Manager, or General Manager (Finance).
- Functional reporting to Corporate Finance or CFO.
