Good Business Lab (GBL) is an independent, non-profit labor innovation company. We use rigorous academic research to prove that worker wellbeing programs have business impacts. We develop market-ready, scalable interventions that benefit both workers and businesses. Our goal is to disrupt the traditional notion of business, and show that worker wellbeing can be a good business practice.
The founders of the lab are Ach Adhvaryu - Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan (www.achadhvaryu.com), Anant Ahuja-head of Organization Development at Shahi Exports Pvt. Role: Finance Manager
Location: Delhi/ Bengaluru/ Remote
Length of Commitment: Minimum 12 months
Remuneration: INR 15 - 17 LPA

Roll Summary
GBL is looking for a finance professional with strong working knowledge of Income Tax, GST, and statutory compliance, along with the ability to manage day-to-day finance operations, financial oversight, audit coordination, and internal stakeholder support.
It calls for someone who understands how finance, compliance, operations, and internal processes work together to support the organization effectively.
The person in this role will work closely with the accounting team, program teams, People Ops, leadership, auditors, consultants, and vendors to ensure that GBL’s financial and statutory processes remain robust, compliant, and efficient.
Responsibilities:
Finance & Accounting Operations
- Oversee accurate processing of all accounting transactions including payroll, vendor payments, reimbursements, travel, consultant payments, and procurement
- Ensure all transactions comply with internal policies (reimbursement, travel, procurement, etc.)
- Maintain proper financial records including vouchers, payroll files, asset register, and bank reconciliations
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure books are accurate and up to date
- Support project-wise expense tracking and financial documentation
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Handle GST compliance including review of filings, reconciliations, and documentation
- Support Income Tax compliance and coordination with taxation team and consultants
- Ensure adherence to all statutory requirements applicable to the organization
- Maintain compliance documentation required for funders and government regulations
- Proactively flag risks or gaps in compliance to relevant stakeholders
Audit & Documentation
- Act as the primary coordinator for statutory audit, internal audit, and funder audit requirements
- Prepare and organize documents for auditors, funders, and regulatory bodies
- Support preparation of Utilization Certificates, Statements of Expenditure, and compliance reports
- Ensure proper record-keeping for smooth audit processes
Financial Management & Internal Coordination
- Support budgeting, tracking of expenses vs budget, and financial monitoring
- Assist teams and budget holders in understanding financial processes and requirements
- Act as a bridge between finance, other verticals and leadership
- Support cash flow monitoring and fund tracking from an operational lens
- Strengthen financial management systems and improve existing processes
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify gaps in current finance and compliance processes and suggest improvements
- Build simple trackers and systems (Google Sheets / Excel) to improve visibility and control
- Create SOPs and training material for internal teams on finance processes
Skills and Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with minimum 6-8 years of overall experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial role
- Strong working knowledge of GST, Income Tax, and statutory compliance
- Experience in preparation and review of financial statements in line with Indian statutory requirements, including Companies Act, 2013, Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) / Accounting Standards (AS), and other applicable regulatory guidelines
- Understanding of disclosure requirements, schedules, and audit-ready documentation as per Indian compliance norms
- Experience working closely with auditors to support statutory audit and financial statement finalization
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets
Good to Have:
- Experience working in project-based organizations
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Zoho and QuickBooks
- Experience with donor reporting and budget tracking
- Experience of working with not for profit organizations
