About the Company:
Sustainability Economics.ai is a global organization pioneering the convergence of clean energy and AI, enabling profitable energy transitions while powering end-to-end AI infrastructure. We integrate AI-driven cloud solutions with sustainable energy to build scalable, intelligent ecosystems that drive efficiency and long-term impact across industries.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and self-driven Finance executive (CA articleship completed) to join our team. You will help oversee and improve day-to-day financial operations and provide inputs that support operational decision-making across departments. You are comfortable working with large volumes of financial data, keen to improve processes, and able to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting with guidance from the wider team. Alongside finance, you will also support core people operations for a lean, fast-growing team — helping run recruitment, onboarding, and HR compliance — making this a broad, high-learning role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats.
Key Responsibility:
- Manage full-cycle accounting functions, including bookkeeping, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statement preparations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements by preparing and filing GST, income tax, TDS, Provident Fund, Professional Tax returns, and other regulatory filings.
- Administer payroll processing, employee settlements, and related statutory documentation.
- Oversee accounts receivable/payable and vendor/client/international transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support adherence to regulatory requirements such as labour laws and FEMA, and assist the team with RBI FLA returns for wholly owned foreign subsidiaries in India.
- Continuously improve finance processes for operational efficiency and automation.
- Support internal and external audits, including statutory, tax, and transfer pricing audits, by providing required documentation and addressing audit queries.
- Prepare responses and documentation for notices issued by government authorities.
- Consolidate financial statements of subsidiaries for holding company reporting.
- Own end-to-end recruitment for the team — drafting job descriptions, sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and managing offer roll-outs and pre-boarding.
- Run structured onboarding and induction for new hires — ensuring documentation, system access, and orientation are completed smoothly from offer to day one.
- Manage HR compliance and payroll inputs — maintaining employee records, attendance and leave data, and ensuring statutory adherence to PF, PT, ESI, gratuity, and applicable labour laws.
- Maintain HR documentation and basic people policies — offer letters, employment contracts, and personnel files — while supporting a smooth day-to-day employee experience and exit/full-and-final formalities.
Education and Experience:
Domain expertise and qualifications include, but are not limited to:
· CA –Inter in Finance or equivalent. Basic understanding of Secretarial Compliances
· Exposure to a global or startup environment is a plus (not required)
· Detail-oriented and analytical
· Exposure to or genuine interest in HR operations — recruitment, onboarding, and HR compliance — is a strong plus
Skills Required:
- Good understanding of financial and accounting principles and the preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statements.
- Ability to present complex financial results clearly and effectively.
- Basic awareness of FEMA regulations and RBI compliance for a wholly owned foreign subsidiary in India; hands-on experience is not required.
- Working knowledge of payroll management and related statutory filings.
- Exposure to Global P&L concepts – profit and loss across multiple geographies, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, intercompany reconciliations, and consolidation under IFRS or US GAAP – with a willingness to learn on the job.
- Awareness of cross-border transfer pricing, intercompany settlements, and global treasury operations, with eagerness to support these areas.
- Interest in building global revenue forecasting models and scenario plans, and in supporting strategic financial insights and business unit profitability analysis.
- Working knowledge of HR operations and Indian labour/statutory compliance (PF, PT, ESI, gratuity, shops & establishment), with hands-on ability to run recruitment and onboarding.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and to balance finance and people-operations priorities in a fast-paced, lean-team environment.
What You’ll Do
- Drive financial excellence → Prepare accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings and consolidation along with forecasts that support strategic decision-making.
- Support budgeting & planning → Contribute to the annual operational planning process, working closely with teams to align financial goals with organizational priorities.
- Deliver actionable insights → Analyze revenue streams and key financial data to uncover trends, variances, and potential risks or opportunities.
- Support compliance & accuracy → Help prepare and track statutory filings including GST, Income Tax, PF, PT, FLA Returns, and ROC compliance in India, plus corresponding requirements in Singapore. Hands-on ownership of RBI and ROC filings is not expected — you will assist the team and learn.
- Optimize finance processes → Identify and implement improvements and automations that increase efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
- Support audits & governance → Assist in statutory, tax, and transfer pricing audits in both jurisdictions, compiling documentation and drafting responses to regulatory authorities in India and Singapore.
- Help build the team → Own recruitment and onboarding end-to-end and keep HR operations, records, and compliance running smoothly as the company scales.
What you will bring
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative team mindset and problem-solving attitude.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Good time management skills and willingness to take ownership of tasks as needed.
- Above all, a strong learning attitude and a bias to deliver — we care more about how you think, learn, and get things done than about a polished profile.
- Startup DNA → bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, love for fast iteration, and flexible and growth mindset.
