About the Role: A Purchases and Inventory Accounting executive oversees the end-to-end procurement process, manages cost accounting to ensure financial accuracy. They negotiate with vendors, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and analyse , typically requiring a degree in accounting/finance and experience in ERP systems
Core Responsibilities
- Inventory Control & Accounting: Maintain accurate inventory records (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) and reconcile inventory accounts, including investigating variances.
- Purchasing & Supplier Management: Manage procurement of goods and services, negotiate contracts for favourable terms, and maintain vendor relationships.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly/annual inventory reports, analyse COGS (Cost of Goods Sold), and manage inventory valuation.
- Month-End Close: Lead inventory closing activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Process Improvement: Implement operational policies and leverage ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle) to streamline purchasing and inventory tracking.
- Stock Optimization: Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages, reduce obsolete inventory, and optimize inventory turnover.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Experience: 5+ years in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or purchasing, often within manufacturing environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Competencies: Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail and good negotiation skills.
