Finance Controller
LH2 AI Labs · Bengaluru · Full-time · On-site (Bengaluru)
About
Built by second-time founders who have built and sold companies before, LH2 AI Labs (lh2.ai) is building the post-training infrastructure for frontier AI models. We bring private, high-quality institutional datasets and vetted domain experts to frontier AI pipelines across verticals like coding, computer use, agentic, medical, audio and more. For AI to keep progressing, it needs high-quality training data drawn from real production use cases. The public web has already been crawled and trained on, there's nothing left. That's where we come in: we envision creating a world where frontier models can access data on tap, exactly how they access compute today.
The role
We're looking for our first finance hire. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly into the Founder's Office. You'll own the books across our US and India entities end-to-end, hands-on, not managing a team or reviewing someone else's work.
What you'll actually do
- Own the month-end close and management reporting across both the US parent and the India entity
- Maintain the books in QuickBooks to US GAAP: chart of accounts, revenue recognition on data licensing deals, accruals, deferred revenue, intercompany eliminations
- Run US compliance end-to-end with our CPA: federal and state income tax returns, 1099/W-9 handling for contractors, Delaware franchise tax, sales tax nexus tracking
- Own India statutory compliance directly: GST (GSTR-1, 3B, annual), TDS deduction and quarterly returns, EPF and ESI, professional tax, advance tax, ROC/MCA filings
- Run payroll across both geographies, plus contributor and vendor payouts at volume
- Own AR/AP, cash flow forecasting, burn and runway reporting to founders and investors
- Drive statutory and financial audits, and keep us audit-ready year round
- Build the finance function from scratch: approval workflows, expense policy, close calendar, tooling
What we're looking for
- 4-8 years of experience, ideally CA or CPA qualified, with meaningful time at a startup running a US-India structure
- Genuinely dual-stack: fluent in US GAAP and QuickBooks on one side, and GST, TDS, EPF and ROC filings on the other. This is not a role where one side gets outsourced and forgotten
- Comfortable doing the filings yourself, at least until there's a team
- Education from a tier-1 institute, with strong communication skills
- Excited to build something from scratch rather than run an existing playbook
Nice to have
- Experience at a company with heavy contractor or supplier payout volume
- Exposure to milestone-based or delivery-based revenue recognition
- Prior experience taking a company through its first statutory audit or fundraise diligence
