⚡ Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on
Finance Controller to own end-to-end accounting, month-end close, statutory compliance, payroll, and P2P/O2C operations. The role will ensure audit-ready financials while building strong processes and internal controls in a fast-growing organization.
🎯 What You Will Do
Accounting & Reporting (day-to-day)
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping: AP, AR, T&E, vouchers, journals, and timely posting.
- Review & oversee sales invoices; reconcile receipts and customer payments.
- Review & oversee daily/weekly bank reconciliations and cash position checks.
- Lead month-end close: accruals, cut-offs, reconciliations, fixed asset depreciation, inventory accounting, and ledger closing entries.
- Review and oversee timely preparation of monthly financial statements P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and supporting schedules.
- Review & oversee fixed asset register and depreciation schedules; manage capitalization workflows.
- Maintain inventory records and periodic stock reconciliations (cycle counts, NRV checks).
- Oversee payroll processing, statutory deductions (PF/ESI), and payroll reconciliations.
- Approve and process expense claims and vendor payments per the authority matrix.
Procure-to-Pay (P2P) & Order-to-Cash (O2C)
- Drive P2P: prepare/validate POs against budgets, match GRN/PO/Invoice, schedule payments based on due dates and approvals.
- Authorize vendor payments; manage vendor queries and aging.
- Own O2C: ensure order verification, invoice generation, debtor aging management, and collections follow up.
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate GST workings, reconcile GSTR2A/2B/3B, filings and timely GST payments from the team.
- Ensure timely and accurate TDS calculations, payments and returns from the team.
- Ensure ROC filings, Companies Act compliances, and other statutory filings (PF/ESI, professional tax).
- Coordinate with external tax advisors for tax provisions and compliance.
Audit & Controls
- Coordinate statutory audit, tax audit and GST audit; ensure all audit deliverables are ready and queries closed.
- Build and maintain an internal control framework, SOPs and segregation of duties.
- Ensure audit-ready documentation and timely responses to auditors and tax authorities.
Systems, Process & Team
- Own accounting processes and drive improvements/automation.
- Mentor and manage day-to-day finance staff.
- Ensure SLAs for month-end, reconciliations, vendor payments and collections.
- Implement checklists, month-end templates, and dashboards for leadership.
Stakeholder & Treasury support
- Provide accurate working capital visibility and short-term cash forecasts.
- Liaise with banks, vendors, internal Ops, Supply Chain and external auditors.
- Support in fund utilization tracking and investor information requests as needed.
✅ What We’re Looking For
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, statutory compliance, and manufacturing/energy/EV-related businesses/high growth startups preferred
- Required Qualification: CA, ICWA / MBA Finance.
- Strong technical accounting & statutory compliance knowledge (GST, TDS, Companies Act).
- Hands-on month-end close, reconciliations, and audit coordination experience.
- Excellent Excel skills; comfortable with ERP accounting modules & masters.
- Detail-oriented, process-driven and deadline-oriented.
- Good communicator & negotiator, able to coordinate across operations and procurement and leadership. Able to negotiate with bankers or other vendors as and when required.
- Integrity, ownership and ability to work in a fast-moving startup/manufacturing environment.
Good To Have
- Prior experience in manufacturing, energy, EV or industrial sectors or high-growth startups.
- Experience with Zoho Books.
