Job details:
We are looking for someone who understands finance work but loves building tools more than doing the work itself. This person will not be executing accounting, compliance, or payroll deliverables. Instead, they will sit with the teammates who do, watch closely how each task gets done, and build tools, workflows, and AI solutions that cut down the time and effort involved. The goal is simple. Help our delivery teams work faster and with fewer errors, so we can serve our clients better.
The ideal candidate has 3 to 4 years of exposure to the India finance function, covering areas like accounting, compliance, payroll, MIS, and reviews. That background is what helps them understand the work, the pain points, and the language of the team. On top of that, we need a strong appetite for automation, low-code tools, and applied AI. You don't need to be a full-stack engineer, but you should be comfortable reading and deploying code, working with APIs, and turning a manual checklist into a working tool.
Key Responsibilities
· Understand the Work (Not Do It)
· Sit with the delivery teams handling accounting, GST / TDS / income-tax compliance, payroll, and MIS to
understand how each task is performed today.
· Map existing workflows, identify repetitive steps, hand-offs, and review check-points where time is lost or errors
creep in.
· Translate finance and review requirements into clear technical specifications for tools and automations.
· Act as the bridge between the finance team and the tools. Gather feedback regularly, iterate, and drive adoption
across the team.
Tools, Automation & AI
· Identify repetitive, manual, and error-prone tasks across accounting, compliance, payroll, and reporting
workflows that are suitable for automation.
· Design and build in-house tools such as Excel and Google Sheets automations, Python scripts, low-code apps
and dashboards to simplify routine work and reduce turnaround time.
· Deploy HTML pages, internal web tools, and code written by the team. Handle hosting, access, and basic version
control.
· Evaluate AI use cases relevant to a finance practice (document extraction, ledger scrutiny, reconciliation, drafting,
summarisation) and prototype solutions using available LLM APIs and platforms.
· Build review-support tools and check-point dashboards that give seniors visibility on engagement status,
exceptions, and quality metrics.
· Integrate accounting and payroll systems (Tally, Zoho, QuickBooks, SAP, etc.) with internal tools where feasible.
· Document tools, write user guides, and train team members on adoption.
Required Skills & Experience
· 3 to 4 years of exposure to an India based finance function across accounting, statutory compliance (GST, TDS,
IT), payroll, or MIS. Enough to understand how the work is done and where it gets stuck. Prior stint in a CA firm,
outsourcing or shared services setup, or in-house finance team is preferred.
· Strong understanding of Indian accounting principles, basic statutory framework, and the review discipline
(checklists, sampling, exception handling).
· Hands-on experience with at least one ERP / accounting platform (Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle,
NetSuite).
· Advanced Excel and Google Sheets including formulas, pivots, and Power Query. Comfort with macros or Apps
Script is a plus.
· Working knowledge of at least one scripting language, with Python preferred. Should be able to read, modify,
and run code, and build small utilities end to end.
· Familiarity with HTML/CSS basics and the ability to deploy a static page or simple internal web tool.
· Genuine interest in AI. Should have explored LLM tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot, and ideally tried
building something with an API or a no-code platform such as Make, Zapier, n8n, or Power Automate.
· Strong problem solving instinct. Should be able to break a manual process into clear steps and spot where
automation adds the most value.
· Attention to detail, ownership mindset, and the ability to work directly with seniors and clients.
Good to Have
· Exposure to RPA tools (UiPath, Power Automate Desktop) or document-AI platforms.
· Experience deploying tools on internal servers, shared drives, or cloud (any of: GitHub Pages, Netlify, Vercel,
AWS, Azure).
· Prior experience in a CA firm or finance outsourcing environment.
· Qualification: B.Com, M.Com, MBA (Finance), CA Inter, or Semi-qualified CA. Actual skill and aptitude will weigh
more than the degree.
What You'll Get
· Direct ownership of an automation and AI charter inside a growing finance practice.
· Access to senior leadership, real client problems, and the freedom to experiment with new tools.
· A role that compounds. Every tool you build keeps paying back across engagements.
