SERAP India is looking for an experienced Finance, Accounts & Controlling Manager to lead the company’s accounting, financial control, taxation, compliance and reporting activities.
The successful candidate will manage the Accounts and Finance Department, contribute to the development of SAP FI and CO modules in India, and serve as a member of the Management Steering Committee.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance and business controlling
• Manage the accounting, finance, cost-control and taxation activities of SERAP India.
• Analyse and interpret financial data and recommend appropriate actions.
• Monitor production costs, margins, project profitability, customer contracts, customs duties and inventory levels.
• Prepare monthly cash-flow forecasts and propose solutions to optimize the company’s financial position or address anticipated financing difficulties.
• Prepare monthly financial operating reports, including working capital and commercial profitability indicators.
• Identify variances, determine their causes and propose corrective actions.
• Support the French Costing Department in preparing the annual budget.
• Manage transfer-pricing accounting, controlling, monitoring and advisory activities, including preparation for audits under income-tax and customs regulations.
• Recommend improvements to invoicing methods and monitor new local laws and regulations that may affect the business.
Accounting
• Supervise all accounting entries in SAP and ensure their correct allocation.
• Define, implement and update financial, accounting and taxation procedures across departments.
• Monitor compliance with established procedures and report any discrepancies to the relevant department or management.
• Prepare and analyse the monthly profit and loss statement and recommend necessary actions.
• Supervise foreign-currency management.
• Supervise monthly payroll accounting and reconcile employee loans and payables with the HR Department.
• Manage and supervise assistants responsible for basic administrative and accounting activities.
The position will also supervise:
• Planning and completion of supplier payments according to agreed due dates and payment terms.
• Follow-up of customer payments in collaboration with the Sales Department, including appropriate escalation in cases of delay.
• Coordination with the Logistics and Sales departments to ensure correct preparation of commercial and GST invoices for products and services.
• Entry and reconciliation of customer receipts.
• Accounting for import purchases.
• Preparation of department-wise expense reports and monthly expense monitoring.
• Creation of asset codes and maintenance of the fixed-asset register.
• Quarterly physical verification, tagging and traceability of company assets.
Tax compliance and audits
• Ensure taxes are correctly recorded in SAP in accordance with applicable local regulations, including required SAP modifications for tax-related charges.
• Coordinate with the company’s Chartered Accountant and external consultants to optimize taxation.
• Coordinate with tax authorities regarding tax payments and regulatory updates while maintaining good relationships with local authorities.
• Calculate and file GST and other tax returns strictly within statutory deadlines.
• Coordinate with auditors for the annual closing of accounts and Group consolidation in March and August.
• Monitor India’s Foreign Trade Policy and manage the related documentation.
• Prepare for and support tax audits and assessment procedures.
• follow internal rules and procedure and report to International Audit Committee
Legal and statutory compliance
• Work with the Company Secretary to ensure that all secretarial compliance requirements and documentation are completed in accordance with the Companies Act, 2013.
• Prepare and manage banking and FEMA documentation required to register new share capital with the Reserve Bank of India and the Registrar of Companies.
• Support the company on legal matters by providing internal guidance or coordinating appropriate external legal advice.
Coordination and stakeholder management
The Finance, Accounts & Controlling Manager will work closely with:
• The Accounts and Finance Department in France.
• The Chartered Accountant supervising the company’s accounts in India.
• External auditors.
• Tax consultants supporting the company on GST, excise duties, VAT/CST and other applicable taxation matters.
• All internal departments requiring financial information and analysis.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Chartered Accountant qualification is required.
• More than 10 years of accounting and finance experience, preferably within industrial companies.
• Advanced knowledge of SAP FI and CO modules.
• Good knowledge of Indian taxation applicable to goods, including GST.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Fluent in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
• Relevant experience in a comparable finance leadership position.
• Experience in industry is mandatory.
