Now we're looking for a Filmmaker who can turn briefs into films people screenshot, share, and steal ideas from.
The Role
As a Filmmaker at Canvas & Co., you'll own films from concept to final cut. Brand campaigns, founder stories, social-first content, ads, podcasts, event films, you name it. You'll work closely with our creative, growth, and digital teams to ship work that doesn't look like everything else on the timeline.
This is an on-site role in Gurugram. You'll be on set more than at your desk.
What you'll do
- Direct and shoot films across formats (brand, social, performance ads, founder content, podcasts, BTS, event coverage)
- Translate creative briefs into shot lists, mood boards, and visual treatments
- Lead shoots end to end — pre-pro, on-set direction, lighting, framing, sound checks, talent direction
- Collaborate with editors, motion designers, and creative leads to push the post-production bar
- Pitch original ideas in client meetings and internal brainstorms (we ship creative thinkers, not just operators)
- Stay on top of formats, trends, AI tools (Midjourney, Runway, Kling, Higgsfield, Seedance, Flux) and bring them into the work
- Maintain quality, deadlines, and a calm head when shoots get chaotic
What we're looking for
- 2 to 5 years of filmmaking experience, ideally with agency, studio, or production house background
- A strong reel that shows range (we care about the work, not the resume)
- Solid grip on cameras (Sony FX, RED, BMPCC, or similar), lenses, lighting, and sound
- Comfortable directing talent — founders, creators, actors, real people
- Working knowledge of Premiere, DaVinci, or Final Cut for edit reviews and rough cuts
- Sharp visual taste and a point of view, not just technical skills
- Open to AI-assisted workflows and curious about where film is heading
- Hindi and English fluency, conversational comfort with clients and crew
Bonus points if
- You've shot for D2C brands, OTT, or fashion
- You can operate as a one-person crew when needed
- You've worked with creators or built content series from scratch
- You have a director's eye but a producer's discipline
