We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join either Figma's Core Data Science or Creation Engine Team. Creation Engine: Creation Engine is a platform team thats work on some of the core technologies that power our real time, browser-based products. This team focuses on improving the performance and quality of our products, as well as building scalable tools that allow other feature teams to build performant and reliable features. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working closely with engineering teams and has a strong track record of using data to influence strategy. Core Data Science: In this role, you will focus on enhancing the efficiency of Data Scientists and other data practitioners at Figma by improving data quality, developing internal tools, and applying novel statistical methods to problems specific to Figma. The ideal candidate is passionate about transforming new methodologies and best practices into useful tools for others, has a proven track record of collaborating across different functions to drive impact, and is enthusiastic about creative problem-solving. What You'll Do: Collaborate cross-functionally to understand existing problems and identify areas of impact for your team Understand user behavior within Figma through creation of new datasets, metrics, experimentation, etc and guide decision making Develop new techniques, datasets, tools that will enable answering previously unanswered questions and increasing rigor of analyses Design and maintain frameworks that are widely leveraged across the company Establish partnerships with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Research, Design, Sales, and Marketing We’d love to hear from you if you have: 10+ years relevant work experience in Analytics, Data Science or Software Engineering Fluency in SQL Proficiency in Python, R, or a similar scripting language Experience in distributed data processing systems and framework (Hive, Redshift, Presto, Snowflake, Spark, etc) Firm knowledge of statistical methods and experimental design Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills A self-starting mindset along with strong communication and collaboration skills Read more about our team: https://www.figma.com/blog/cross-functional-data-science-user-research-figma/ https://www.figma.com/blog/how-we-use-data/ https://www.figma.com/blog/from-experiment-to-launch-how-data-shaped-a-new-comments-experience/ At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go.
