TITLE: Secondary Multilingual/English Language Arts Teacher BUILDING: Fife High School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Designee BARGAINING UNIT: FEA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some staff may not perform all the duties listed, while in
other cases, related duties may also be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable

● Manage and conduct testing for multilingual students, including but not limited to WIDA screening and
ACCESS.
● Maintain state and district timelines and requirements in collaboration with central office staff.
● Professionally interact with students, staff, and members of the public.
● Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a Professional Learning Community (PLC).
● Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, Board Policies, and the Code of Professional
Conduct.
● Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
● Document provision of services related to an IEP and 504 plans.
● Enlist the assistance of counselors, administration, and other support personnel where appropriate.
● Demonstrate continued ability to work collaboratively with paraeducators who support multilingual services.
● Provide lesson plans and/or direction for the paraeducators who support multilingual services.
● Provide lesson plans for substitute teachers.
● Participate in extra-curricular responsibilities as necessary.
● Demonstrated proficiency with English Language Development Standards and with Common Core State
Standards.
● Demonstrated successful experience in implementing adopted curriculum and curriculum integration.
● Demonstrated evidence of classroom management skills.
● Ability to effectively integrate technology in daily lessons and use multiple communication systems such as
electronic mail, computers, document readers, and classroom technology.
● Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and work with students, parents, staff, and community in an
effective and positive manner
● Desired teacher characteristics include: flexibility, creativity, organization, ability to project enthusiasm and
express ideas clearly, good classroom management skills, ability to use a variety of current instructional
strategies, and a willingness to model behavior appropriate to the school district and community.
● Participates in identified professional development activities to enhance professional skills and
knowledge.
● Maintains regular, predictable, and punctual attendance, as well a physical presence, during regularly
scheduled work hours at assigned worksite.
● Performs the physical requirements of the position, work within the established working conditions of
the position.
● Performs other job functions as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
● Bachelors’ degree required. Advanced degrees preferred
EXPERIENCE:
● Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity desired
CLEARANCES/CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
● Current fingerprints on file with OSPI with results satisfactory to the district
● Sexual Misconduct Disclosure process completed with results satisfactory to the district
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
● Valid/appropriate Washington State certification
● Endorsement in English Language Learners (ELL)
● Endorsement in English
● Successful teaching experience at the high school level is desirable
