Field Technician – Commissioning & Maintenance | Elevators
Location: Delhi NCR / Mumbai / Chandigarh
Employment Type: Full-Time | Field-Based
Experience: 3+ years preferred in the Elevator / Lift Industry
About Gilco Global
Gilco Global Pvt. Ltd. is a vertical mobility solutions company working across elevators, escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters, accessibility systems and specialised mobility applications.
Our work spans project execution, installation, commissioning, maintenance and modernisation across commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, industrial and infrastructure projects.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Field Technician – Commissioning & Maintenance who can independently handle the technical transition of an elevator from installation completion through testing, commissioning and handover, and subsequently support preventive maintenance, breakdown servicing and troubleshooting.
This is a hands-on field position requiring strong practical knowledge of elevator electrical, electronic and mechanical systems, along with the ability to diagnose faults systematically rather than through trial and error.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Commissioning
- Inspect completed elevator installations before commencement of commissioning.
- Verify electrical wiring, terminations, control-panel connections, earthing, safety circuits and associated components.
- Carry out testing, adjustment and commissioning of elevators in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.
- Configure and troubleshoot controllers, drives/VVVF systems and related operating parameters.
- Check motor operation, brake function, encoder/sensor feedback and relevant control signals.
- Test landing-door and car-door operation, door locks, interlocks, sensors and door operators.
- Check lift travel, acceleration, deceleration, stopping accuracy and floor levelling.
- Test limit switches, final limits, inspection operation and applicable safety functions.
- Verify emergency systems including ARD/rescue operation, alarm, emergency lighting and communication systems wherever applicable.
- Identify installation defects, wiring errors, snag points and technical non-conformities and coordinate their rectification.
- Conduct final operational and safety checks before handing over the elevator for service.
Maintenance & Breakdown Support
- Carry out scheduled preventive and routine maintenance of elevators.
- Attend breakdown calls, technical complaints and emergency service requirements.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic, control-related and mechanical faults.
- Troubleshoot controllers, drives, door systems, motors, brakes, sensors, switches, safety circuits and associated components.
- Undertake necessary adjustments, repairs and component replacement within authorised procedures.
- Identify recurring faults and escalate technical observations where further engineering intervention is required.
- Ensure equipment is tested for safe and satisfactory operation before being returned to service.
Site & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with installation teams, project engineers, supervisors, contractors and customers for commissioning and maintenance activities.
- Highlight site-readiness issues including civil, electrical, access and safety constraints.
- Support installation teams in resolving technical issues encountered during testing and commissioning.
- Communicate pending technical work, material requirements and site constraints clearly to the concerned team.
- Support customer/site representatives during inspections and handover wherever required.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete commissioning checklists, inspection reports, breakdown reports and maintenance records accurately.
- Record faults diagnosed, corrective action undertaken and parts/components replaced.
- Submit daily site updates, attendance, photographs, service reports and task-completion details through the prescribed company system.
- Maintain clear records of pending technical observations and follow them through to closure.
Technical Knowledge Required
The candidate should have practical understanding of:
- Elevator electrical and mechanical systems
- Control panels and elevator controllers
- VVVF/VFD drives
- PMSM/gearless traction systems preferred
- Motors, brakes and encoders
- Door operators and door-control systems
- Safety circuits and interlocks
- Sensors, limit switches, contactors and relays
- Electrical wiring and termination
- ARD/emergency rescue systems
- Preventive and corrective maintenance
- Breakdown diagnosis and systematic fault finding
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical manuals is essential.
Qualification
ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline preferred.
Relevant hands-on elevator experience will carry greater weight than qualification alone.
Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of direct hands-on experience in the elevator industry.
Candidates with 3+ years covering commissioning as well as maintenance and breakdown troubleshooting will be preferred.
Experience limited only to general electrical work, facility maintenance, construction or unrelated machinery will not be considered equivalent elevator experience.
Exposure to passenger elevators, MRL systems, gearless traction elevators, freight elevators or other specialised lift applications will be an advantage.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should:
- Be comfortable working independently at customer and project sites.
- Have strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Follow technical instructions and safety procedures rigorously
