Role Description
Construction Quality Engineer (QE) ensures project quality by developing QMS, inspecting materials/work, performing tests (soil, concrete, steel), creating QC documents (ITPs, checklists), enforcing standards (codes, specs), raising NCRs for defects, suggesting corrections, and liaising with clients/contractors for compliance and smooth project handover, requiring strong analytical skills and a civil engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
• Quality Planning: Develop Quality Assurance/Control (QA/QC) Plans, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Work Procedures, Checklists, and Method Statements.
• Material Inspection: Inspect incoming materials, review test certificates, and conduct/witness material testing (e.g., aggregates, cement, steel).
• Site Surveillance: Verify site activities against drawings, specifications, and methodologies; perform daily checks on work and batching plants.
• Testing & Documentation: Oversee lab and field testing, maintain detailed quality records, and manage documentation for project closeout.
• Issue Resolution: Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deviations, investigate defects, and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Coordination: Liaise with clients, contractors, and project managers for approvals and feedback; facilitate project handover.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to local codes, standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and regulations.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (minimum).
• Experience: Proven experience in construction QA/QC, material testing, and site inspection.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software (AutoCAD, Revit), understanding of QMS, and knowledge of construction codes/standards.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication (written/verbal), problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
