The Ranthambhore Bagh is a nature-led homestay situated on the edge of Ranthambhore National Park, one of India’s most iconic wildlife landscapes. Rooted in the Ranthambhore landscape since 1998, The Ranthambhore Bagh and the Bagh Forest -the Bhadlav rewilding project- reflect an ongoing commitment to conservation, ecological restoration, and meaningful engagement with the natural world.
Known for its evolving landscape of native vegetation, sustainable gardens, and food forests, The Ranthambhore Bagh offers an immersive experience rooted in the ecology of Ranthambhore. Alongside wildlife safaris and nature-based experiences, the property functions as a living ecosystem that attracts wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, birders, naturalists, and travellers seeking a deeper engagement with the landscape and natural world.
This is a full-time, on-site position for a passionate and knowledgeable naturalist to join our team and contribute to immersive wildlife experiences, conservation communication, and ecological stewardship.
About the role
Position: Field Naturalist
Location: Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan
Organisation: The Ranthambhore Bagh
The Naturalist will play a key role in delivering meaningful nature-based experiences for guests while supporting conservation awareness, biodiversity documentation, and ecological interpretation. They will engage with the wider conservation, ecological restoration, research, and nature communication initiatives evolving under Aditya “Dicky” Singh’s legacy. The role is dynamic and evolving, offering meaningful involvement across multiple programmes connected to wildlife, habitats, communities, and the larger Ranthambhore landscape.
The ideal candidate should possess strong field knowledge, communication skills, and a deep passion for wildlife, habitats, and sustainable tourism.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct guided nature walks, birdwatching sessions, village walks, and ecological interpretation programmes for guests
• Share insights on the flora, fauna, ecology, and conservation landscape of Ranthambore
• Assist guests in understanding wildlife behaviour, tracking signs, bird identification, and habitat interactions
• Support biodiversity monitoring and maintain wildlife sighting records.
• Contribute to conservation communication, storytelling, and environmental awareness initiatives
• Assist in maintaining native landscapes, interpretation areas, trails, and ecological spaces
• Coordinate with safari teams, photographers, researchers, and visiting naturalists
• Create educational content, including species checklists, signage, presentations, and social media stories
• Encourage responsible tourism and ethical wildlife practices among visitors
• Participate in rewilding, habitat enhancement, and sustainability initiatives
• Assist with day-to-day communication, guest coordination, and administrative responsibilities
• Graphic design and communication work using Canva or similar platforms where required
Desired Skills & Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of wildlife, ecology, botany, ornithology, or natural history
• Excellent communication, storytelling, and guest engagement abilities
• Fluency in English and Hindi is essential
• Ability to identify birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, and native vegetation
• Passion for conservation, fieldwork, and outdoor learning
• Photography and documentation skills are an added advantage
• Comfortable working in natural outdoor conditions and interacting with diverse guests
• Prior experience in wildlife tourism, eco-hospitality, conservation projects, or environmental education is a bonus.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Ability to assist with communication and coordination
• Proficiency in Canva or other design platforms is appreciated, though not mandatory
Preferred Educational Background
Environmental Science | Wildlife Science | Forestry | Ecology | Botany | Zoology | Conservation Biology
Relevant certifications in birding, wildlife interpretation, wilderness guiding, or nature education will be advantageous.
