About the Project
The KalGyani Project (TKP), led by Sakshi in partnership with the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), aims to strengthen the autonomy and agency of rural women by equipping them with the legal and institutional tools necessary to exercise their financial independence safely and confidently.
As women increasingly join the workforce and contribute to household income, they often encounter new forms of intra-household and workplace violence, rooted in shifting gender dynamics and unequal power relations. TKP seeks to address these challenges by complementing livelihood enhancement with gender literacy, legal awareness, and institutional convergence, enabling women to translate economic participation into genuine empowerment.
The project operates across Gender Resource Centres (GRCs) in 12 Blocks of Thoothkudi District, Tamil Nadu, working through the NRLM ecosystem to build the capacities of frontline functionaries and foster convergence with district-level gender and welfare institutions.
