Role Description The Fashion Embroidery Design Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Surat. This role oversees the end-to-end embroidery design process, from concept development to final execution on garments. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and refining embroidery designs, managing design calendars, coordinating with sampling and production teams, and ensuring designs meet brand requirements and quality standards. The manager will guide designers and artisans, review and approve artwork, select threads and techniques, and collaborate closely with merchandisers and buyers to align designs with seasonal trends and client briefs. The role also involves maintaining documentation of designs, monitoring cost and efficiency, and ensuring timely delivery of design outputs for bulk production.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in fashion and embroidery design, including creating original motifs, patterns, and placements for woven and knit garments.
- Proficiency in design tools and software commonly used for embroidery (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or specialized embroidery software), along with hand-sketching skills.
- Solid understanding of embroidery techniques, materials, and processes, including thread types, machine capabilities, surface ornamentation, and finishing.
- Experience coordinating with sampling, production, and quality teams to translate design concepts into manufacturable and cost-effective styles.
- Ability to interpret mood boards, trend forecasts, and buyer tech packs, and convert them into market-relevant embroidery collections.
- Demonstrated skill in team supervision, workflow management, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced fashion manufacturing environment.
- Attention to detail, strong aesthetic sense, and the ability to balance creativity with commercial requirements and timelines.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field; prior experience in embroidery design management in export or domestic apparel is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working on-site in Surat and engaging directly with artisans, machine operators, and floor staff to resolve design and execution issues.
