SUMMARY: Coordinates activities of workers concerned with receiving, storing, inventorying and transporting materials, supplies, equipment and parts in warehouse by performing the following duties. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other appropriate duties may be assigned.

  • Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of logistics personnel for designated shift.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees through proper training, enforcement of safety rules and following proper procedures.
  • Maintain/exceed established department standards.
  • Manage and control cost as it relates to budgeted labor, materials, and waste.
  • Participate in cost savings projects, idea gathering and implementation.
  • Monitor and enforce established GMP, OSHA, HACCP rules and regulations.
  • Maintain the highest standards and housekeeping with a focus on food safety.
  • Actively participate in successful completion of established plant financial, quality, sanitation and safety goals and objectives.
  • Ensure departmental/individual compliance with national, state, local building/mechanical codes: safety codes; company and customer policies, procedures and standards.
  • Participate in the hiring process.
  • Properly document performance concerns and give appropriate feedback as required.
  • Maintain open/active communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor employee timekeeping system to ensure accuracy for payroll.
  • Ensure proper training of all employees and participate in ongoing process and machine operation training.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of product and materials received, stored and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading of trucks.  Communicating with employees and customers in a    positive a professional manor.
  •     Lead manpower utilization, training needs, and cross-training skill levels.
  •     Effectively communicate company goals and objectives to all associates under their leadership.
  •     Coordinate all department activities with Plant Purchasing, Scheduling, Production Control, and Engineering.
  •     Coordinate activities with the other shifts to maintain consistency in administering plant policies.
  • Lead the effort to develop the team and team members through training, coaching and mentoring of technical and packaging functions.                                                                                                   
  •    Lead regular team meetings using a structured team meeting process, to review team actions plans, identify gaps with the team scorecard, identify the root causes, plan actions, and assign an accountable team member for completion of the action plan.                                                                                          

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job assignment successfully, an individual must have leadership skills and show a proactive approach to problem solving and people management.  Organizational skill, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skill, and quality awareness are necessary qualities.  A coordinator must be customer focused and take ownership of their area of responsibility.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Must possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree plus demonstrated related experience in a similar position.  Ability to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English.  Must be able to understand and follow directions.  Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.  Must be able to demonstrate good attendance.  Manual and finger dexterity.  Must be able to work extended hours and/or overtime as required.  Must be able to participate in job development training, such as equipment cross-training and team development training.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILTY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work is performed primarily in an office setting in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment.  When performing jobs on the plant production floor, work requires possible exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, working around moving equipment, electrical hazards, tanks, heights, fumes, chemicals, vibrations, dust, etc.  Working hours must be flexible with the ability to work on all shifts and extended hours as required.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
