Description
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Implement the Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) cycle by facilitating goal setting, action planning, focused observations, and reflective feedback
- Provide individualized coaching based on each teacher’s strengths and development needs
- Maintain accurate and timely coaching documentation
- Support teachers in implementing curriculum effectively and using developmentally appropriate practices
- Model teaching strategies in classrooms and home-based settings
- Promote high-quality teacher-child interactions and positive learning environments
- Use child and classroom data to guide coaching and instructional decisions
- Support alignment with program school readiness goals
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts
- Provide training and support based on staff needs
- Support onboarding and development of new staff
- Promote reflective practice and ongoing learning
- Collaborate with leadership on professional development planning
- Partner with education, disabilities, mental health, and family services staff
- Participate in team meetings and program initiatives
- Maintain required documentation and records
- Ensure coaching practices align with Head Start Performance Standards
- Participate in monitoring, self-assessment, and continuous improvement activities
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field required; Master’s preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in early childhood education required; Head Start experience preferred.
- Experience with coaching, curriculum implementation, and child assessment systems preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child development, effective teaching practices, and adult learning principles.
- Ability to build relationships, analyze data, and communicate effectively.
