Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree.
- Five (5) years of experience in teaching, school counseling, supervision, or administration in a related specialty.
- Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
- Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, practices, procedures, and programs of the special education specialty.
- .Knowledge of related laws, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to plan, manage, and supervise programs and personnel.
- Ability to effectively lead teams in multiple projects.
- Ability to plan and conduct professional development activities.
- Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.

Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Supervises the planning, organization, administration, and management of the programs or services for students with disabilities in a special education program area.
- Develops and evaluates programs and policies within a specialty.
- Plans, develops, and adapts curriculum to ensure the delivery of appropriate and sufficient educational services for students with disabilities.
- Leads in the development of individualized curriculum adaptations for systemwide implementation.
- Leads in the evaluation of systemwide program development and project initiatives.
- Supervises the intake, local screening, evaluation, and eligibility processes to identify students with disabilities.
- Supports registration, enrollment, student placement, attendance, and daily child count.
- Provides supervision and/or support for the development and presentation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provides professional development and specialized training opportunities for community agencies, school system personnel, and families.
- Assists with the planning, organization, administration, and management of support programs.
- Provides leadership, support, and resources to meet state-mandated requirements and other compliance for special education programs in schools.
- Tracks and monitors budgets and provides recommendations and advice related to budget development and forecasting.
- Manages data compilation, analysis, and reporting for evaluation and future planning.
- Presents information and recommendations to senior management team.
- Provides supervision and/or support to school-based special education-related personnel.
- Represents the Division in negotiating or facilitating resolution regarding matters of significance, especially related to compliance matters.
- Facilitates meetings with community groups, employee associations, or families.
- Oversees the work of vendors and/or contractors.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
