We are looking for a compassionate and reliable team member to support individuals experiencing Alzheimer’s and age-related dementia in a structured, home-like environment.
Position Summary
The Adult Center Specialist works as part of a team to support participants and their families by providing direct care, engaging activities, and a safe, supportive environment. This role focuses on maintaining participant dignity, promoting independence, and ensuring services are aligned with individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to participants, including assistance with daily living needs and medications as appropriate
- Plan and facilitate recreational, social, and daily living activities
- Monitor participant well-being and communicate changes to appropriate staff
- Maintain accurate documentation, including daily notes and activity records
- Support development and implementation of participant care plans
- Assist with snack preparation, clean-up, and maintaining a clean, organized environment
- Follow all safety procedures, including emergency response when needed
- Ensure facility security through opening and closing procedures
- Enter participant information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain compliance with all agency, state, and federal requirements
- Perform other duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related experience in human or social services preferred
- Experience working with seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus
- Must meet agency driving requirements (21+ and licensed for at least 3 years)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication skills with participants, families, and team members
- Ability to assess needs and support both individual and group activities
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn EMR systems
- Reliable transportation and good driving record
Required Certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Alaska Driver’s License
- CPR and First Aid(Agency Provided)
- Safety-Care Certification (Agency Provided)
Additional Requirements
- Annual PPD test
- Hepatitis B immunization or you may waive
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This position involves medium physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent standing, walking, bending, and assisting participants.
