The Faculty & Research Data Migration & Integration Specialist will be responsible for the end-to-end migration, cleansing, standardisation, and interim integration of Faculty and Research-related data from AKDMIA and PeopleSoft into a new SaaS Research / Faculty Information platform. The role covers: • Data assessment and clean-up • Migration script development • Excel/cvs-based SaaS import preparation • Design and implementation of temporary APIs/integrations required until legacy systems are fully decommissioned This is a hands-on delivery role, working closely with IT, business stakeholders, and the SaaS vendor. Key Responsibilities 1. Faculty & Research Data Analysis • Analyse AKDMIA and PeopleSoft data related to: o Faculty profiles o Research outputs (publications, grants, activities) o Appointments, affiliations, and academic metadata • Identify data quality issues including: o Duplicate faculty records across systems o Inconsistent identifiers and reference data o Legacy or obsolete records • Support definition of source-to-target data mappings aligned with the SaaS platform 2. Data Cleansing, Standardisation & Transformation • Design and implement data cleansing rules, including: o De-duplication across AKDMIA and PeopleSoft o Standardisation of names, dates, affiliations, and codes o Validation of mandatory fields and controlled vocabularies • Ensure data meets: o SaaS vendor import rules o Institutional reporting and governance standards • Develop reusable, future-proof cleansing logic to be applied until legacy systems are retired 3. Migration Script Development • Develop and maintain SQL / PL-SQL scripts to: o Extract data from AKDMIA and PeopleSoft o Apply transformation and validation rules • Ensure scripts are: o Re-runnable for multiple migration cycles (test, dry-run, final) o Well-documented and auditable • Support incremental refinements based on migration outcomes and business feedback 4. Excel-Based Migration Deliverables • Produce Excel files aligned with: o SaaS vendor import templates o Approved data mappings and validations • Ensure: o Correct structure, formats, and reference values o Referential integrity across Faculty, Research Outputs, and related datasets • Support reconciliation between: o Source systems o Excel files o SaaS system post-import results 5. Interim Integration & API Development • Design and implement temporary integrations to ensure business continuity while legacy systems remain active, including: o REST APIs o Scheduled data synchronisation jobs o File or batch-based interfaces where applicable • Develop RESTful APIs to: o Push or synchronise Faculty & Research data o Support delta and incremental updates • Implement: o Authentication and access control o Error handling, logging, and retry mechanisms • Ensure integrations are lightweight and easy to retire post-decommissioning 6. Testing, Validation & Cutover Support • Perform: o Data validation and reconciliation o Integration and migration testing • Support business users during: o Data review o Sign-off processes • Assist during cutover, stabilisation, and interim operations 7. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer • Produce and maintain: o Data mapping documents o Cleansing and transformation logic o API and integration documentation • Support handover to internal IT and Data teams Required Skills & Experience Mandatory • Strong experience with Oracle-based systems (Like AKDMIA, PeopleSoft, or equivalent) • Proven experience in Faculty / Research / Academic data migration • Advanced SQL / PL-SQL skills/ Python • Hands-on experience preparing Excel-based SaaS imports • Experience designing and building REST APIs • Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and migration best practices Nice to Have • Experience with Research Information Systems (FRIS / CRIS) • Familiarity with research outputs, grants, and faculty data models • Python or similar scripting for large-scale data transformation • Experience supporting phased legacy system decommissioning
