The Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IGJ) operates under the KTB Educational and Charitable Foundation, a registered Trust. It is affiliated with the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI), a sector under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Supported by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, IGJ is dedicated to providing specialized skill development programs in the gems and jewelry industry. The institute works towards empowering individuals by offering industry-aligned education and training.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Faculty in Gemology based in Malappuram. The Faculty will be responsible for delivering structured theoretical and practical training to students in gemology. Responsibilities include designing course content, conducting hands-on practical sessions, assessing student performance, and staying updated on industry trends. The Faculty will also provide guidance to students, contribute to curriculum development, and ensure the delivery of quality education.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in gem identification, gem grading, and diamond evaluation
- Proficiency in teaching techniques and curriculum development
- Ability to conduct hands-on practical sessions and demonstrate gemological tools and equipment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in the gems and jewelry industry or relevant academic background in gemology
- Passion for education and mentoring students in the field of gemology
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gemology or a related field is preferred
- Certification from a recognized gemological institute is an advantage
