Job Title: Factory Head – High-End Furniture Manufacturing
Location: Sankrail Industrial Park, Dhulagarh, West Bengal
Reports To: Managing Director
Role OverviewThe Factory Head will be responsible for leading the complete operations of a high-end furniture manufacturing facility in Kolkata. This includes production, quality, planning, manpower management, and factory expansion initiatives. The role requires a strong focus on craftsmanship, process discipline, and timely delivery of premium furniture products while ensuring operational efficiency and cost control.
Key Responsibilities1. End-to-End Factory Operations- Oversee all manufacturing functions including carpentry, panel processing, upholstery, polishing, and assembly
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations aligned with production schedules
- Drive efficiency, productivity, and adherence to timelines
2. Production Planning & Control- Develop and monitor production plans based on order pipeline and delivery commitments
- Ensure optimal utilization of machines, manpower, and materials
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
3. Quality & Finishing Excellence- Maintain high standards of quality, especially for premium finishes, polish, and upholstery
- Implement strict quality control systems across all stages
- Minimize rework, defects, and customer complaints
4. Team Leadership & Workforce Management- Lead and manage supervisors, department heads, and skilled labor
- Build a disciplined, performance-driven shop floor culture
- Train teams on processes, quality standards, and best practices
- Ensure proper manpower planning and allocation
5. Process Implementation & Improvement- Establish SOPs and standardization across departments
- Introduce process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce wastage
- Implement systems for tracking production, quality, and efficiency
6. Factory Expansion & Infrastructure- Plan and execute factory expansion projects (new machines, layout optimization, capacity enhancement)
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants
- Ensure projects are completed within timelines and budgets
7. Inter-Department Coordination- Work closely with design, purchase, planning, and installation teams
- Ensure seamless flow from design to production to dispatch
- Resolve cross-functional issues proactively
8. Vendor & Stakeholder Management- Coordinate with key vendors for machinery, materials, and outsourced work
- Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure timely deliveries and services
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and partners
9. Cost Control & Inventory Oversight- Monitor material consumption, wastage, and production costs
- Work with purchase and stores to optimize inventory levels
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality
10. Compliance & Safety- Ensure adherence to safety standards and factory regulations
- Maintain proper documentation and compliance with statutory requirements
- Promote a safe and organized working environment

Qualifications & Experience- Diploma/Degree in Production, Wood Technology, Furniture Design, or related field
- 10–15 years of experience in furniture manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in luxury/custom furniture manufacturing preferred

- Quality benchmarks and reduction in defects/rework
- Factory efficiency and output levels
- Cost control and material utilization
- Team productivity and retention
Additional Notes- Strong on-ground presence on the shop floor is essential
- Experience in managing skilled labor (carpenters, polishers, upholsterers) is critical
- Candidate should be proactive, disciplined, and execution-focused
- Familiarity with modern machinery (CNC, beam saw, edge banders) is an added advantage
