ironment.Role Description The Fabrication Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Bhilai, responsible for overseeing day-to-day steel fabrication operations. This position plans and manages production schedules, allocates resources, and coordinates with engineering, procurement, and project teams to meet delivery timelines and quality standards. The role includes supervising shop floor teams, monitoring welding and assembly activities, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring equipment is maintained and utilized efficiently. The Fabrication Manager also implements process improvements, tracks production metrics, and resolves operational issues to optimize throughput and reduce downtime. Regular reporting, documentation, and collaboration with senior management on project status, costs, and capacity planning are core aspects of this role.
Qualifications
- Strong production and operations management skills, including Production Management and Operations Management, with experience in planning, scheduling, and meeting throughput targets.
- Proficiency in welding-related processes, including Welding oversight and coordination, with familiarity in structural steel fabrication standards and procedures.
- Demonstrated Supervisory Skills, including team leadership, workload allocation, performance tracking, and fostering a safe, respectful workplace.
- Experience in Quality Control, including inspection of fabricated components, compliance with drawings and specifications, and documentation of non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Working knowledge of fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., AWS, IS standards) is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to work under time constraints and manage multiple projects.
- Experience in a high-volume fabrication shop, with exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or other continuous improvement methods, is an advantage.
