Salary: 2.4 - 3 LPA
Department: Design & R&D
Education background: ITI, Product design, Diploma in mechanical/electronics, Degree fresher
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Prototyping Technician who is passionate about fabrication. You will help turn our concepts for sensor housings, mounting brackets, and outdoor-grade enclosures into testable physical products. You’ll work alongside our Industrial Designers and Engineers, bridging the gap between a digital design and a physical object.
No degree requirements here- we value pure skill, passion, and your ability to work with tools.
Key Responsibilities
● Prototype Building: Construct functional prototypes for environmental testing and design validation.
● Fabrication: Perform cutting, drilling, grinding, sanding, polishing, buffing, and painting.
● Material Expertise: Work with a variety of materials, including metal (aluminum/SS), plastics (ABS/PC), acrylic, and composites.
● Finishing: Take a raw part and make it "market-ready" through surface preparation and high-quality spray painting.
● Assembly: Assemble mechanical parts, electronic enclosures, and complex mockups.
● Workshop Management: Use hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely; maintain tool organization and cleanliness.
● Iteration: Help iterate quickly on multiple versions based on feedback from the R&D team.
● Collaboration: Work with the design team to create custom fixtures, jigs, and provide feedback on how to make designs easier to build.
Required Skills
● Hands-on Mastery: Strong experience in fabrication, prototyping, or architectural model making.
● Surface Finishing: Highly skilled in surface preparation, sanding, and spray painting (achieving smooth, professional finishes).
● Experience post-processing 3D printed parts (SLA/FDM).
● Tool Proficiency: Expert use of workshop tools: angle grinders, drills, jigsaws, sanding machines, and basic welding/soldering.
● Interpretation: Ability to look at a 2D drawing or a 3D model on a screen and understand how to build it physically.
● Practical Assembly: Basic understanding of mechanical and electronic assembly practices.
● Initiative: A "can-do" attitude, willing to experiment and find ways to make a design work.
Good to Have
● Familiarity with basic electronics, soldering & wiring.
● Prior experience in a prototyping lab, automotive workshop, or design studio.
Culture Fit
● The Maker Mindset: You are happiest when you are building something.
● Safety Conscious: You respect the tools and maintain a safe workspace.
● Detail-Oriented: You care about the fit and finish of every part.
● Startup Agility: You are excited to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.
Why Join?
● Direct Impact: See your prototypes travel across the globe to monitor the environment.
● Collaborative Environment: Work in a workshop-first culture where designers and technicians work as equals.
● Skill Growth: Opportunity to master new tools and fabrication techniques alongside a top R&D team.
