Role Description The Fabrication Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Howrah - at the company's factory. The Fabrication Engineer will oversee the fabrication of steel structures and bridge girders, including interpreting engineering drawings, planning fabrication sequences, and coordinating workflow on the shop floor. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring welding and machining operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols, and collaborating with production, quality, and project management teams to meet project timelines. The role involves troubleshooting fabrication issues, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and preparing technical documentation and reports related to fabrication processes and inspections. The Fabrication Engineer will also interact with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders as needed to support smooth project execution across rail, road, and industrial infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Mechanical Engineering knowledge, including structural fabrication, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
- Candidates should possess skills in Welding operations and procedures, including familiarity with welding codes, weld quality standards, and common welding techniques used in heavy fabrication.
- Candidates should possess skills in shop-floor fabrication practices, including the use of cutting, drilling, and fitting equipment and tools.
- Candidates should possess skills in Quality Control, including inspection methods, dimensional checks, documentation, and implementation of ISO/RDSO quality requirements.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; experience in heavy fabrication, structural steel, or bridge girders is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with safety standards, and effective communication skills are important for success in this role.
- Experience working with Indian Railways, EPC contractors, or infrastructure projects, and knowledge of RDS
