Job Title: Fabric Manager – Fabric Sourcing
Department: Fabric / SourcingLocation: B-7, Sector-65, Noida
Salary- Upto 60k
Experience: 12-15 years in fabric sourcing,
preferably in the garment exports industry
Job Purpose
To source and develop fabrics as per buyer requirements while ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality standards, timely delivery, and compliance with buyer specifications and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fabric Sourcing & Development
· Identify and develop reliable suppliers (mills, agents) for woven, knitted, and specialty fabrics.
· Understand buyer tech packs/specs and source appropriate fabric qualities accordingly.
· Coordinate with suppliers for fabric development (lab dips, handlooms, strike-offs, etc.).
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fabric trends, innovations, and sustainability options.
2. Price & Lead Time Negotiation
· Obtain fabric prices, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms.
· Negotiate the best possible rates and delivery timelines without compromising on quality.
3. Fabric Quality Management
· Evaluate and approve fabrics based on physical parameters, aesthetics, and buyer requirements.
· Identify fabric defects (weaving issues, colour shading, GSM variations, etc.) and work with vendors to resolve.
· Coordinate with internal quality and testing teams for test reports (shrinkage, GSM, pilling, colourfastness, etc.).
4. Vendor Management & Documentation
· Maintain an updated vendor database with performance records.
· Ensure timely fabric deliveries as per the production plan.
· Maintain records of sampling, developments, and approvals from buyers.
5. Coordination & Communication
· Coordinate with the merchandising and production teams to plan fabric requirements.
· Ensure fabric booking aligns with the production calendar and delivery deadlines.
· Communicate regularly with suppliers for production follow-up and status tracking.
Key Requirements
· Strong understanding of fabric types (woven, knit, denim, synthetic, blends, etc.)
· Knowledge of fabric testing and defect identification (infections, shade, GSM, etc.)
· Familiarity with compliance requirements and sustainable fabrics (if applicable).
· Proficiency in Excel, Email, and sourcing software (ERP knowledge preferred).
· Good negotiation, coordination, and communication skills.
