Our client for a highly driven and commercially strong Director – Exports to lead and scale the international business across both private label and owned brands. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience managing exports across 50+ countries, with a strong understanding of global distributors, international retail networks, compliance, and cross-border business expansion.
This role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in international markets, business development, channel management, and export operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Global Business Expansion
- Lead and drive export business growth across international markets spanning 50+ countries
- Identify new market opportunities, distributors, and strategic partnerships globally
- Develop and execute region-wise export strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Expand presence across key geographies including Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, US, and LATAM
2. Private Label & Brand Management
- Drive international growth for both:
- Private Label business
- Company-owned / licensed brands
- Manage relationships with global retailers, distributors, and private label partners
- Understand retailer expectations, product customization, packaging, pricing, and compliance requirements
3. International Sales & Revenue Ownership
- Own export revenue targets, profitability, and business expansion plans
- Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, and distributor margins
- Build annual business plans and forecasting models for export markets
4. Distributor & Channel Management
- Appoint, manage, and scale distributor networks globally
- Monitor distributor performance, secondary sales, inventory movement, and market penetration
- Drive strong execution across modern trade, general trade, e-commerce, and travel retail channels internationally
5. Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Track global market trends, competition, pricing benchmarks, and consumer preferences
- Provide inputs into product development, packaging adaptation, and regional assortment planning
- Develop go-to-market strategies for new product launches internationally
6. Export Operations & Compliance
- Ensure smooth execution of export operations including:
- Documentation
- Regulatory compliance
- Logistics coordination
- Product registrations
- International certifications
- Work closely with supply chain and production teams to ensure timely fulfillment
7. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Build and mentor a high-performing export sales team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, finance, regulatory, and product teams
- Present business updates, market insights, and growth plans to senior leadership
Key Requirements
- 18+ years of experience in international exports/business development
- Strong exposure to both private label and branded business
- Proven experience handling exports across 50+ international markets
- Prior experience in FMCG, beauty, personal care, fashion, lifestyle, food, or consumer goods industries preferred
- Strong network of international distributors and retail partners
- Deep understanding of export regulations, documentation, and global trade practices
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Experience managing large-scale international business operations and teams
