Job Title: Exploration Geologist – Iron Ore & Mineral Exploration
Location: India Multiple Sites across India (with significant operations in mineral-rich belts; willingness to travel & relocate)
Experience Required: Minimum 8 years of proven experience in iron ore & base metal exploration, geological mapping, drilling supervision, resource modelling, and mining studies.
Languages Preferred: English, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil – added advantage
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Seasoned Exploration Geologist with expertise in iron ore and mineral exploration to lead, execute, and manage geological programmes across exploration projects in India. The role demands high field engagement, strong technical geological knowledge, cross-functional coordination, and compliance with Indian mining & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Exploration Planning & Execution
- Plan, coordinate and execute geological exploration programmes (greenfield & brownfield).
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling, trenching, geophysical surveys, and core drilling.
- Supervise drilling campaigns, QA/QC sampling, and data collection.
Data Management & Interpretation
- Analyze geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
- Prepare lithological logs, cross-sections, structural models, and interpretation reports.
- Ensure data integrity through systematic logging, database management, and interpretation.
Resource Modelling & Reporting
- Support resource estimation, block modelling and geological modelling using software tools (e.g., Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine).
- Compile exploration results for internal technical reports and regulatory filings.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to statutory requirements (e.g., IBM/DMF norms, DGPS survey standards).
- Prepare and submit exploration progress reports as required.
- Maintain environmental, safety and statutory compliance at all sites.
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Lead and mentor geology teams and field staff; guide junior geologists.
- Coordinate closely with drilling contractors, surveyors, environmental teams and HSE.
- Liaise with local authorities, landowners, and community representatives.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Implement safety protocols, risk assessments and ensure safe work culture in field operations. Monitor environmental & social commitments at project sites.
Travel & Operational Deployment
- Frequent travel to field sites across mineral belts.
- Stay at remote locations for extended durations based on field requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology / Applied Geology / Earth Sciences
- 8+ years of field experience in mineral exploration, especially iron ore.
- Strong understanding of stratigraphy, structural geology, ore body characterization.
- Hands-on experience with geological software (GIS, Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, Micromine).
- Excellent report writing, data analysis, and interpretation skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in other base metals and industrial minerals.
- Proficiency in Kannada, Malayalam, or Tamil for field & community engagement.
- Exposure to international exploration practices is a bonus.
