Purpose Of The Position
- Powertrain homologation expert for Battery Electric and conventional engine vehicles
- Planning and co-ordination vehicle Powertrain homologation activities to ensure certification in time for all assigned India (domestic) projects.
- Ensure CAFE (CO2 & FC) compliances time to time for India market
- Responsible for assigned project compliance & maintain same as per regulatory changes
Authority
- Lead, monitor and execute powertrain homologation activities with authorities
- Responsible for handling internal communications, dialogue with internal/external customers/suppliers
- Coordination with Audi brand HQ for powertrain Homologation activities.
- Responsible for homologation time plan, budget, order system and components and vehicles including battery electric vehicles
Skills Required
Technical knowledge of vehicle and its aggregates, functioning & relevant homologation requirements. In-depth knowledge of working of local authorities (ARAI, ICAT, VRDE, etc.) & technical services (TUV, IDIADA, VCA etc.). Understand and interpret powertrain related regulation
Hands-on experience with emissions and Engine FTP preparation, instrumentation and execution for local & export homologation, Interpretation & analysis of results and consequences.
In depth knowledge of various testing methodologies & compliance requirements related to vehicle homologation (Battery electric & Internal Combustion Engines)
In depth knowledge of various Indian regulations like IS/AIS, equivalent UNR regulations & their interpretations with testing methodologies & upcoming regulations necessary for compliance of critical components of electric vehicle as well as whole electric & ICE vehicles

Key Responsibilities &Tasks
Coordinate complete planning & execution of the vehicle certification activity for Local, CKD & CBU products with respect to powertrain related tests including homologation pre-testing for conventional engine and battery electric vehicle projects
Coordinate and plan powertrain relevant tests as per project milestones. Ensure relevant part verification and vehicle software alignment as per project premises. Review and update homologation time plans and ensure time to time update to Management for assigned conventional engine and battery electric projects
Responsible for Pre-test data recording, sharing and analysis.
Ensure representation of test result and analysis data to relevant stakeholders and management
Provide improvement actions with alignment of Brand HQ or EP experts and implement same in stipulated time.
Ensure CO2 and CAFÉ compliance requirements and ensure to meet prognosed values during type approval tests.
Lead and monitor the powertrain homologation activities for conventional engine and battery electric vehicles through close coordination with Project coordinators, EP or brand HQ teams ensure precertification & certification tests are performed & certifications are delivered as per agreed targets.
Coordination & preparation of documentation, drawings & checklists necessary for certification activities. Negotiations with local authorities and testing laboratories for WCC and timely execution of tests
Coordinate thru close interaction with external partners/suppliers and authorities (viz. ARAI, TUV etc) for document submission, time planning, testing, test report preparation, relevant clearances & correction in documentation to ensure certificates are delivered within defined timelines.
Coordinate and liaison with engineering departments for documentation, software related changes, vehicle preparation etc. Planning and execution of tests in WOB/MB/Ingolstadt or at any other locations with authorities as & when desired in consultation with ET/A department.
Keep critical track of all changes in the specifications to analyze impact and ensure necessary compliance steps. Critical tracking of SW related changes with help of relevant departments and VW systems like System-42 etc.
In co-operation with regulation teams, study & comment on new regulations entered /entering into force in India/abroad. Analysis, budgeting & planning of testing & certification activities for compliance all affected models
Responsible to act as powertrain homologation expert for allocated models to ensure upkeep of all activities and decisions making to ensure compliance up to date
Study of various engineering changes, analysis, budgeting & planning of testing & certification activities for compliance all affected models in coordination with various departments. Controls budgetary expenses and implement economical efficient actions into homologation process
Adhere to departmental process and guidelines. Share and upkeep of all homologation documents, certificates, test reports and legal documents in soft & hard form as per defined processes. Prepares regular reporting to superiors.
Management of test facility bookings, witnessing of tests at various test locations within & outside India. Co-ordination for test vehicle/component ordering and movements
Responsible for preparation, upkeeping and implementation of ‘Best practice document’ for all powertrain homologation activities of conventional engine and battery electric vehicle maintain all test data records like check sheets, verifications, vehicle logs etc.
