Job Description
The Cluster of Excellence
Color meets Flavor (CMF) invites applications for up to
three fellowship positions (2+1 years) within the newly established
Innovative Algorithm Lab (IAL).
The IAL is designed to foster cutting-edge research at the interface of
particle physics, mathematics, and computer science, with a particular emphasis on innovative algorithmic approaches relevant to the Cluster’s scientific program.
Position Overview
Fellows will:
- Define and pursue their own independent research agenda, aligned with the scientific goals of CMF
- Select two principal investigators (PIs) from the Cluster as mentors
- Actively contribute to the interdisciplinary research environment of the Lab
Each position can be hosted at one of the CMF partner institutions:
- University of Bonn
- TU Dortmund University
- University of Siegen
- Forschungszentrum Jülich
Research Environment
Fellows will be embedded in a vibrant and collaborative environment, with access to leading research centers and infrastructures, including:
- Bethe Center for Theoretical Physics (BCTP)
- Hausdorff Center for Mathematics (HCM)
- Electron Stretcher Facility (ELSA)
- Research and Technology Centre for Detector Physics (FTD)
- Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC)
- Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- Collaborative Research Center SFB 1639 “NuMeriQS”
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A PhD in physics, computer science, mathematics, or a closely related discipline
- An excellent research track record appropriate to their career stage
- A strong interest in interdisciplinary research
Terms of Appointment
- Duration: 2 years, with a possible 1-year extension
- Salary and benefits are provided according to the German public service scale TVöD/TV-L (E14)
