Job details:
Premium Parking is a US industry leader turning an everyday hassle into a smart, seamless experience, blending AI, IoT, and elegant design into a tech-first platform that powers frictionless parking and compliance at scale. Join our Product team and you'll work directly on AI- and GenAI-powered product and design workflows, shaping user experiences across kiosks, mobile, IoT devices, and third-party integrations alongside product, engineering, and strategy minds from around the globe, all with the agility of GCC India's start-up-style environment and the freedom to bring your own tools and ideas to the table. It's a chance to make a direct, visible impact on products used by cities, universities, and enterprises across North America. So, if you like your code to have a real-world parking space to live in, you're in the right place.
Main Responsibility:
Deliver well-scoped features and bug fixes across the backend platform with minimal supervision and grow toward owning whole subsystems.
Responsibilities:
- Implement features within existing modules following the codebase's patterns: keep controllers thin, push business logic into service objects/interactors, and use models for persistence and invariants.
- Build new GraphQL types/mutations or REST endpoints; write request specs and keep API documentation current.
- Add Sidekiq workers and scheduled jobs following established patterns for retries, error reporting, and idempotency.
- Write Rails migrations safely, with awareness of locking and zero-downtime deployment constraints.
- Implement third-party integrations under guidance, with proper retries, error handling, and webhook ingestion.
- Add and maintain authorization policies, feature flags, and audit trails where appropriate.
- Write comprehensive RSpec unit, request, and integration tests; keep code coverage healthy.
- Run linting, static analysis, and dependency audits locally before opening a PR; resolve issues you introduce.
- Debug failing CI runs in GitHub Actions and address regressions promptly.
- Update Docker / Docker Compose configurations for local dev when new services are added.
- Participate in PR reviews and give constructive feedback to peers.
Skills Required:
- 3-5 years of working experience.
- Solid Ruby on Rails (2+ years), comfortable with Active Record associations, scopes, validations, and callbacks.
- Solid practical experience developing React features/components using hooks, routing, API integration, and modern tooling; capable of independently implementing requirements, debugging issues, and following established frontend architecture and best practices.
- PostgreSQL: writing safe migrations, basic indexing, joins, and reading EXPLAIN output.
- RSpec, FactoryBot, and stubbing external services in tests.
- Git, GitHub PR workflow, and basic GitHub Actions troubleshooting.
- Docker basics: building images, running containers, and using Docker Compose locally.
- Familiarity with at least one of: Sidekiq, Redis, Memcached, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
- REST API design fundamentals; some exposure to GraphQL.
- AWS basics: reading logs in CloudWatch, locating a task in ECS, and retrieving a secret from Secrets Manager.
Preferred
- Templating engines (Slim/ERB) and form helpers.
- Payment-flow experience.
- TypeScript at a level sufficient to read AWS CDK stacks.
- Basic performance debugging tools.
