Role Overview
The Executive – Sourcing will be responsible for managing daily procurement and supply gap closures for D2C operations, ensuring uninterrupted availability of fresh fruits and vegetables at the Distribution Centre (DC). The role focuses on identifying supply gaps against planned purchase orders and sourcing fresh produce from APMC Vashi and other Mumbai markets to maintain high fill rates and seamless order fulfillment. The position plays a critical role in minimizing stockouts, ensuring quality procurement, and maintaining operational continuity in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify daily supply gaps and procure required quantities from APMC Vashi and allied markets to ensure uninterrupted inventory availability and high fill rates across categories.
- Build and manage relationships with traders, commission agents, farmer-vendors, and aggregators; negotiate pricing and maintain reliable procurement networks for supply continuity.
- Create and process purchase orders in ERP/procurement systems; maintain accurate procurement records, pricing, quantity details, and operational documentation.
- Conduct on-the-spot quality checks for fresh produce, coordinate with inbound and DC teams for receiving and reconciliation, and ensure adherence to freshness and quality standards.
- Drive fill rate targets by minimizing stockouts, improving procurement responsiveness, and coordinating with Category and Planning teams on recurring supply gaps and forecasting improvements.
- Track procurement KPIs including fill rate %, spend vs. plan, vendor performance, and QC rejection %; share market insights and support process improvements in sourcing and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Graduate in any discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in fresh fruits & vegetables procurement, sourcing operations, or mandi operations
- Prior experience in D2C, quick commerce, grocery retail, HoReCa supply chain, or fresh produce environments preferred
- Strong understanding of APMC Vashi market operations, pricing dynamics, and trader ecosystem
- Hands-on experience in vendor management, spot buying, and procurement negotiations
- Experience using ERP/procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, Unicommerce, or similar platforms
- Working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets for operational reporting and tracking
- Strong negotiation, coordination, and problem-solving capabilities
