An Executive IT (Hardware, Network, and ERP) in a hospital plays a critical role in maintaining the technological backbone that enables patient care. This role ensures the uninterrupted operation of Hospital Information Systems (HIS), electronic medical records (EMR), network connectivity, and hardware infrastructure. They act as the primary technical support for doctors, nurses, and administrative staff.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the job responsibilities:
1. Hardware & Infrastructure Maintenance
· Asset Management: Install, configure, and maintain computers, servers, workstations, printers, scanners, and peripheral devices across the hospital.
· Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular checks on servers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling systems in the server room to ensure 24/7 uptime.
· Medical Device Support: Collaborate with the biomedical team to connect and troubleshoot IT-enabled medical equipment.
· Asset Inventory: Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, licenses, and AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) records.
2. Network & Security Management
· Network Operations: Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and Wi-Fi connectivity to ensure reliable access to patient data.
· Security Protocols: Implement and maintain data security, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems.
· Backup & Disaster Recovery: Ensure regular, automated data backups of patient records and financial data, and maintain a disaster recovery plan to prevent data loss.
· Access Control: Manage user accounts, email setups, and permissions for employees, ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA or local regulatory compliance.
3. ERP/HIS (Hospital Information System) Support
· System Administration: Oversee the daily operation of the Hospital Management System (HMS/HIS) or ERP system.
· Troubleshooting & Support: Provide immediate technical assistance to end-users (staff) experiencing issues with software applications.
· Upgrades & Patches: Coordinate with vendors to apply system updates, patches, and customizations to the ERP.
· Data Integrity: Regularly audit system data for accuracy, ensuring seamless integration between clinical, pharmacy, and billing modules.
4. Technical Support & Operations
· Helpdesk Support: Resolve IT helpdesk tickets promptly, including in-person assistance in clinical areas.
· Training: Train hospital staff on the proper use of new software systems and hardware.
· Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors for repairs, internet connectivity issues, and software support.
· Documentation: Maintain technical documentation for network configurations, system procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Qualifications & Key Skills
· Education: Bachelor’s/ Diploma degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, BCA or a related field.
· Experience: 2+ years of experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
· Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Windows Server/Linux, networking tools (switches, routers), and SQL.
· Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
· Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with non-technical medical staff.
